Have you ever considered an adult-only trip to Disneyland? If you haven’t, start thinking about it! It’s such a fun way to experience Disneyland park. Think about it, you can go wherever you want, ride whatever you want, eat whatever you want… Interested yet? Leaving your young kids at home is seriously a great idea! I’ve got a whole post about Disneyland for adults. Check it out! Plus, I’ve got a podcast episode where I discuss why an adults-only visit is such a great idea. You can find the apple version here. Or search for Mix In Some Magic on your favorite podcast player to find it.

This list was a little hard for me to make. I know that a guide to the best rides at Disneyland for adults should include mostly thrill rides, right? That’s what you’d expect. Well, that’s exactly what my best rides at Disneyland for adults has. The most popular attractions that also check the “thrill ride” box. But, I felt a little bad leaving out some really amazing rides that just didn’t really fit into that category. Am I being silly for feeling bad about leaving out some rides? Probably, but I feel like some of the best attractions aren’t necessarily the one that’s the wildest ride or most recent additions.

Some of my very favorite rides are Peter Pan’s Flight(a classic ride), Jungle Cruise, and “it’s a small world”. So, please don’t limit yourself to just this list. Use it as a guide to the best rides at Disneyland for adults, but realize it’s not all-encompassing! Do yourself a favor and try out some of the other rides at Disneyland too. Because some of the best Disneyland rides are the ones that are sometimes overlooked.

Genie Plus

When your riding the best rides at Disneyland for adults, you may not want to wait in the standby lines. That’s where Genie Plus comes in. Genie Plus is the new system that replaced the old Fastpass/max pass system. Genie Plus allows you to access the Lightning Lane on certain attractions.

The Lightning Lane gets you on the attraction much quicker than the standby line. Genie Plus costs an additional $20 per person per day. It includes photo pass, Genie Plus is a great way to skip out on long lines but does have some limitations. I have a whole post about Genie Plus and how it works here. Make sure you check it out so you can decide if the extra cost of Genie Plus is worth it for you and your group.

Rider Switch

I had to mention rider switch on this post about the best rides at Disneyland for adults because it’s the perfect way to make sure the adults in your group get to experience the best attractions! If you have young children who are too small for an attraction or don’t wish to ride then rider switch is going to be your best friend! Rider Switch(also known as Rider Swap) is designed for groups who have small children(or bigger kids who don’t want to ride) so that everyone who wishes to can experience the attraction.

With Rider Switch, one adult or supervising Guest (14 years or older) can wait with non-riders while the rest of the party enjoys the attraction. Then, they simply switch places to allow the supervising Guest to experience the attraction without waiting in the regular queue again. It’s a genius system!

I’ve got a whole post about how to use rider switch along with the height requirements for each ride. You can find it here.

Please make sure you’re taking full advantage of rider switch if you’re visiting with little kids so that the adults all get to experience that fun attractions as well! No one wants to be stuck sitting with the baby while everyone else is off having fun at the happiest place on earth.

I hope this guide to the best rides at Disneyland for adults was helpful for you! I also hope that at some point you’ll consider a Disneyland vacation without the kids! Don’t get me wrong, I love visiting the Disney parks with my children. There’s something incredibly magical about seeing Disneyland through their eyes. However, there’s something incredibly magical about visiting Disneyland without your kids and really being able to embrace and enjoy all the parks have to offer with only yourself to worry about.

Thanks for reading my best rides at Disneyland for Adults post! I know you’re going to have a great time on your vacation!  Make sure to check out my podcast for lots of Disney planning information!
