Timing can be everything when it comes to minimizing wait times at Disney parks. Before embarking on your magical journey, take a moment to consult crowd calendars, which provide insights into peak and off-peak periods. Generally, weekdays, school days, and non-holiday periods tend to have fewer visitors, resulting in shorter lines and a more enjoyable overall experience.

Remember that Disney parks are always crowded, but if you can visit during a less crowded time, you might have short lines for some of the more popular attractions like Radiator Springs Racers, Rise of the Resistance, or the Haunted Mansion.

Consider the thrill level, interests of your group members, and any height restrictions when compiling your list. This way, you’ll maximize your time by minimizing backtracking and optimizing your path through the park. Remember, the key is not just about reducing wait times but also crafting a seamless and enjoyable park experience for everyone in your party.

Use Single Rider Line

The single-rider line is one of the best-kept secrets for reducing wait times at Disney parks. This option is a fantastic way to experience popular attractions with considerably shorter waits. Single-rider lines are designed for individuals or smaller groups who don’t mind being separated during the ride, allowing you to fill in empty seats and expedite the loading process.

While you might not experience the ride together with your companions, the single-rider line is an excellent choice for those looking to maximize their time and enjoy multiple attractions. It’s a win-win situation: you get to experience the thrill of the ride while bypassing much of the regular queue. 

The single rider is only available at some attractions. Check with a cast member to see which attractions offer single-rider lines during your visit. 

Use A Touring Plan

Probably the best way to keep everyone happy in line at Disney Parks is to avoid long lines altogether! I have created touring plans to guide you through the parks and help you avoid long lines. Stay Entertained

 You need a game plan to keep kids(and adults!) happy while waiting in line at Disney Parks. Don’t wander into a long line without a game plan! Coming up with some ideas beforehand about how you’ll pass the time is a great way to make your Disney vacation more enjoyable. Here are some ideas to keep everyone happy while you wait.

1. Snacks and treats- Heading into a long line? Grab a snack or a treat to keep everyone occupied! People are grumpy when they’re hungry. Throw in a long line in addition to your hunger, and it’s a recipe for disaster! It’s incredible what a churro or Mickey ice cream bar will do to lift spirits in a long line. Or, you can bring your favorite snacks from home. I like to keep a small bag of suckers and Smarties in my backpack to help keep littles occupied. I can’t tell you how many in-line meltdowns have been avoided because I pulled out a bag of suckers! Check out my post about what food you can bring to Disney Parks. 

 2. Disney Play App- Download the free Play Disney Parks app and enjoy some fun games and interactive activities. They even have games to play as a group! My kids love this, and we look forward to playing these games while waiting in line at Disney parks.

3. Bubbles- There’s something magical about bubbles for a child. Pulling out bubbles when you spot a meltdown building can save you! Bonus points if they’re Mickey Bubbles! Be courteous to those around you, but in my experience, bubbles make everyone happy! 

 4. Hidden Mickey Book- Buy a Hidden Mickey book before your trip and use it to spot all the hidden Mickeys in your area! Before your trip and use it, look for the Mickeys hidden all over the parks! This is my big kid’s favorite way to pass the time in line. They have the best time searching for hidden Mickeys. You’ll be amazed at how many there are once you start looking for them! 

5. Browse park maps– You can grab a paper map of the park at the entrance to the Disney parks. Many kids love looking at the maps and seeing where everything is located. This is a great way to pass the time in long lines at Disney parks. You could name certain attractions like Peter Pan’s Flight or Indiana Jones Adventure and have them look for them on the map. 

6. Play I Spy- I Spy is a great game that everyone in your family will enjoy. I Spy is a guessing game where one player (the Spy or it) chooses an object within sight of everyone and announces to the other players, “I spy with my little eye something beginning with… or something that is(name color)”. Other players attempt to guess this object. 

7. Mad Libs- Did you play Mad Libs growing up? I totally did, and it’s been really fun to introduce my kids to this fun game! Disney Mad Libs are available and just add to the magic of the Disney Parks. 

8. Browse menus on the app- Decide what you will eat for your next meal. Waiting in line is the perfect time to figure out where you want to eat next. Browse the Disney Park app and have everyone choose what they will eat. Then, you can mobile order it for whenever you’re hungry and skip the long lines at Disney parks for food! 

9. Small toys- I like to bring some little toys that I purchase on Amazon or at the Dollar Store to pull out when small children are struggling in line. It’s amazing what a little toy can do to really make young children happy for a little while! 

10. Chat with other guests– If you’re feeling friendly, you could chat with other guests who are near you in the Disney line. Making new friends is always fun! You could ask them about their favorite rides and have them tell you about the fun things they’ve done that day. 

11. Play 20 questions– We love playing 20 questions while waiting in long Disney parks lines! We like to put a little Disney spin on it and do it with park attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, small world, or Space Mountain. You could also do it with your favorite Disney Characters. To play, One person, called the “answerer,” thinks of a ride or character. The other players — the “questioners” — ask up to 20 yes-or-no questions to determine what ride or character the answerer is thinking about. If the questioners guess correctly within 20 questions, they win.

12. Thumb wrestling- Have you introduced your kids to thumb wrestling yet? They might think it’s a fun way to pass the time. 

13. Play Rock, Paper Scissors- Everyone knows how to play rock, paper, scissors! It’s an easy way to pass the time, and our family has had some epic rock, paper, and scissor battles while waiting in long lines at Disney parks! 

14. Pipe cleaners- Bringing a package of pipe cleaners might be a fun way for young kids to pass the time in long lines at Disney parks. They can use pipe cleaners to make all kinds of delightful creations! 

15. Play heads up- Our family loves playing heads up while waiting in long lines at Disney parks. You can download the game from the app store on your phone.

There are some attractions like Jungle Cruise that I prefer at Disneyland and others like Peter Pan’s Flight that I prefer at DisneyWorld. If you can visit both parks, do it! It’s fun to enjoy the unique experiences of the popular rides at each park and decide for yourself which park has the better ride.

Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure Park have several rides that can only be found at Disneyland. Indiana Jones Adventure, Matterhorn Bobsleds, and Radiator Springs Racers, to name a few. There are classic attractions at Disneyland, like Alice in Wonderland, Snow White’s Enchanted Wish, and Pinocchio. Unique rides like WEB Slingers: A Spiderman adventure and the Incredicoaster. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is a dark ride that can only be found on one Disney property: Disneyland.

Disneyland is my favorite park because of all the unique attractions and the sense of history within this original park.

PJ Masks At Disney Parks

Unfortunately, PJ Masks are not Disney characters. So, you won’t be able to meet Luna Girl, Cat boy, Owlette, or the Night Ninja at a character meet and greet inside the Disney parks.

Luckily, Disney has many other wonderful characters and many fun opportunities to allow kids to meet another favorite character. In addition to Mickey Mouse and his friends, your kids will love to meet Winnie the Pooh and Tigger in Critter Country at Disneyland. Or, maybe they’d enjoy meeting the Princesses at Walt Disney World Resort. Whatever particular character you’re looking for, chances are you’ll be able to meet one of them at the Disney parks.

Disney Junior Characters

There are lots of places to meet your favorite Disney Junior Characters at the Disney Parks. Here’s where you can spot them at each park. All of them are great options! If you’re looking for specific characters, check out my guide to finding characters at Disney parks.

Disneyland

Disney Junior Dance party

You can find your kid’s favorite characters from the Disney Channel at the Disney Jr. Dance Party in Disney’s California Adventure Park. This interactive show is filled with music and dancing. Your kids will be encouraged to stand up, dance, and join the fun! Vampirina and Doc Mcstuffins will be there. You’ll also see Mickey and Minnie from Mickey and the Roadster Racers.

Critter Country

Over in Critter Country at Disneyland, you can meet Winnie the Pooh and his friends. Make sure to grab a hug and picture with these lovable characters.

Main Street U.S.A.

You’ll be able to meet Mickey and his pals on Main Street. The characters rotate, but there are almost always two or three out to greet guests.

Disneyworld

Disney Jr. Play and Dance

In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can play and dance with Doc Mcstuffins, Vampirina, Timone, and Mickey in this fun, musical celebration.

Animation Courtyard

Meet Disney Junior Pals at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Animation Courtyard! This is the place to meet Vampirina, Doc Mcstuffins and Fancy Nancy! This is the perfect place to give your special kids a meet and greet with their favorite Disney Junior friends.

Town Square Theater

The Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom is the most magical place to meet Mickey Mouse!

Meeting Disney Characters

There’s something special about meeting your favorite character while visiting a Disney park! It’s a great way to get those amazing pictures and videos that will bring back the best memories over the years! All the Disney characters are very good at taking time and interacting with each and every guest. They are very good at making even the littlest kids feel special and loved.

Disneyland resort is 40 square miles and includes Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, Downtown Disney District, and the three on-site hotels(Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier, and Grand Californian).

Overview

Disneyland opened on July 17th, 1955. It was created by Walt Disney and took approximately one year to construct. It’s full of so much history and nostalgia. Walt Disney himself had a hand in creating many of the attractions that are still in the park today!

The theming at Disneyland is unmatched! You’ll be able to explore Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Toontown, Frontierland, Galaxy’s Edge, Critter Country, New Orleans Square, and Adventureland. There’s so much to see and do in each land. Make sure you keep an eye out for the little details that are all around you!

Overview

California Adventure is a 55-acre park that opened on February 9, 2001. It’s gone through quite a few changes over the years. This park has so much to offer and is considered by many to have more thrill rides than Disneyland Park.

Themed Lands

California Adventure has some great themed lands! It’s the home to Cars Land, which many consider to be the best themed areas in any of the Disney parks worldwide! You’ll also find Hollywood land, Grizzly Peak, Paradise Gardens Park, Pixar Pier, and Avengers Campus. There’s so much to see and do in all of the different lands!

Don’t Miss At California Adventure

Here are a few things you won’t want to miss when visiting California Adventure! Shopping on Buena Vista Street is always fun, and eating at Pym’s test kitchen in Avengers Campus is a great idea! Make sure you check out Carsland at night and during the day. The nighttime entertainment show, World of Color is pretty impressive! Don’t miss it if you have time!

Park Hopper Vs Single Park Per Day Tickets

Disneyland offers two types of tickets. There’s a park hopper ticket and a single park per day ticket option. If you buy a park hopper, you’ll be able to visit both parks on the same day. The parks are across from each other and only take a few minutes to walk from one to the other. You cannot hope to your second park until 1 pm.

Many people absolutely love the park hopper option. I think it’s great if you only have one day to visit and want to experience both parks. But, because it’s so much more expensive I usually recommend the single-day tickets option.

There’s so much to see and do in each park. You don’t need to park hop. I prefer to spend an entire day(or two) in each park so I can really experience each park fully.

How Much Are Balloons At Disneyland?

There’s something pretty magical about seeing a balloon vendor holding a giant bunch of helium balloons in front of the Disney castle. It just makes my day! Before you rush off to buy the whole bunch, you might wonder, “how much are balloons at Disneyland?” In 2022, the round balloons cost $12. Specialty balloons like the glasshouse balloon(MIckey head inside the ballon) or the light up balloons are $17

How Long Do Inflated Balloons Last?

Believe it or not, these balloons are pretty sturdy and can last a long time! These aren’t your standard latex balloons. You can expect your Disneyland park balloon to last at least 2 weeks, but it can last even longer than that! I’ve seen them last over a month! So, if you purchase a balloon at the Disney parks, it’s going to be around for awhile.

Because they are so sturdy, you would have a hard time popping it by accident. However, if something does happen to your Disney balloon while you’re at the happiest place on earth a helpful cast member can make sure you get a replacement balloon.

Where Can I Find the Disney Balloons?

You can find the Disney balloons on Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland. In Disney California Adventure park, you can find them on Buena Vista Street. If you’re in Downtown Disney you can find them there too! If you’re not sure where to find them, ask a nearby cast member. They can point you in the right direction.

If you happen to be in Walt Disney World, you can find them on the Main Street in Magic Kingdom and in Disney Springs as well.

How Will I Get My Disneyland Balloon Home?

If you’re like me, your first thought when you purchase a Disney balloon is, “How am I going to get this home?”. Luckily, these balloons don’t tie at the bottom like normal balloons. They are closed using zip ties. So, if you’d like to take your balloon home, you can take a little pair of nail clippers and use them to cut the zip tie. After the helium is out of the balloon, you can pack it flat in your luggage. Then, at a later time you can have it filled with helium again after your trip.

Or, if you’re not interested in taking your balloon home you can always gift it to another child on your way out of the Disney theme parks or just leave if in your hotel room.

Why Buy A Balloon At Disneyland?

A Disney balloon is a great way to add a little pixie dust to your vacation! Having a balloon in some of your pictures is so much fun. You can also attach it to your stroller which will help you locate it in the stroller parking area.

If you’re not sold on a Disney balloon, there’s lots of other Disney souvenirs that would be a great choice and be easier to get home! My favorites are bubble wands, mickey ears or a classic stuffed animal.

Whose Castle is at Disneyland?

Whose Castle is at Disneyland? The Disneyland castle belongs to Princess Aurora. Sleeping Beauty herself. This fairy tale castle has undergone many changes over the years, but it’s still a Disney classic.

This castle was overseen by Walt Disney himself. Interestingly, when Sleeping Beauty’s castle was being built, the movie Sleeping Beauty had not yet been released. Walt choose to call it Sleeping Beauty’s Castle to promote the upcoming film. That seems like a pretty good reason to me!

Disney fans will also be interested in this little bit of Disney history- the castle at the Disneyland resort is actually backwards. The front of the castle that you see as you’re strolling down Main Street was meant to be the back! When it was in the model phase, Walt flipped it around and said that he liked it better that way. I agree, Walt!

This enchanted storybook castle right in the center of Disneyland is filled with fun surprises! Inside you will find the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough. You can take a self guided tour through the upper levels of the grand castle to experience the story of Sleeping Beauty and the evil queen.

If you need a break from long lines or your waiting on a Lightning Lane return time for the Matterhorn ride, take a break and explore the castle. Whether it’s your first time visiting or your 1ooth, it’s always a magical experience. Expect to find some magical interactive features and of course, a happy ending for Sleeping Beauty.

Whose Castle Is At DisneyWorld?

Whose Castle Is At DisneyWorld? The Disney World castle belongs to Cinderella! Cinderella’s castle is the largest Disney Castle in the US. This iconic castle is absolutely gorgeous and if I was going to have my own castle, I’d want it to look like this one.

Cinderella’s castle took 18 months to build. The Walt Disney imagineering team used forced perspective to make the castle appear taller than it actually is.

Cinderella Castle Facts:

• Built in 1971
• Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria
• Height: 189 ft (Any building over 190 feet has to have a red light flashing aircraft beacon on the top, and Disney didn’t want that!)
• Drawbridge does not work

What’s Inside Cinderella’s Castle?

There’s so many wonderful things inside Cinderella’s Castle! You’ll find an exclusive restaurant, a salon run by fairy godmothers and a secret suite for overnight stays! You can also walk through the castle to reach Fantasyland. When you walk through you can enjoy beautiful glass windows with Handcrafted glass mosaics depicting the story of Cinderella. Keep reading to find out more!

Cinderella’s Royal Table restaurant

You can dine inside Cinderella’s castle at Cinderella’s Royal Table! This character dining experience is one of a kind! The food is delicious and the setting is right out of one of your favorite Disney movies! Just don’t lose your glass slipper! Reservations are required and can be hard to get, so snag them early!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a royal transformation salon where kids can be transformed into Disney princesses and knights by delightful cast members who are fairy godmothers in training. This is a really fun experience! Price varies based on the package you choose. Reservations are recommended!

Cinderella Castle Suite

The Cinderella Castle Suite is an exclusive hotel suite that is as magical as they come! The suite is not open to the public. The only way to stay there is to win a contest or to be invited by Disney. The place is absolutely incredible. There’s even a grandfather clock inside that’s permanently set to 11:59pm. It never moves so that the magic of Disney will never disappear at midnight. You can find pictures and a video tour here.
