It isn’t the fanciest hotel near Disneyland, and it isn’t the absolute closest. But it has practical room layouts, a walkable location and options for families who need more than two beds in one room.

How Far Is Portofino Inn & Suites From Disneyland?

Portofino Inn & Suites is located on Harbor Boulevard near the corner of Katella Avenue. The hotel is about two blocks from the Disneyland Resort entrance.

The walk generally takes around 10–15 minutes, depending on your pace, crowds and traffic lights. You’ll walk north along Harbor Boulevard until you reach the pedestrian entrance near the Disneyland transportation area.

The route is easy to follow and stays along busy Harbor Boulevard. You’ll pass several hotels and restaurants along the way.

Portofino isn’t as close as the hotels located directly across from Disneyland, but it is still close enough that most families can walk instead of waiting for a shuttle.

Just remember that the walk always feels a little longer after you’ve spent the entire day in the parks! If you have younger kids, I would still consider bringing a stroller.

Rooms at Anaheim Portofino Inn & Suites

The room selection is one of the best things about Portofino Inn & Suites. I’ve stayed in the Kids Suite, the standard two-queen room and the accessible two-queen room, so I’ve been able to see how the hotel works for different types of travelers.

Kids Suite

If you’re traveling with children, this is the room that makes Portofino Inn & Suites especially appealing.

The Kids Suite is approximately 410 square feet and sleeps up to six guests. It includes:

• A private bedroom with one king bed
• A separate kids’ area
• Bunk beds
• A pull-out sofa bed
• French doors between the two sleeping areas
• A television in each room
• Mini refrigerator
• Microwave
• Two vanity and sink areas

I’ve stayed in this suite, and the layout is great for families. The kids get their own space instead of everyone being packed into one traditional hotel room, and parents can close the French doors when it’s time for bed.

Having two televisions is helpful when everyone needs a break. The second vanity and sink area also makes getting ready for Disneyland easier because six people aren’t trying to use the exact same space.

The microwave and mini refrigerator are also useful for keeping drinks, snacks and simple breakfast items in the room.

For a family of five or six, I would compare the price of this suite with the cost of booking two standard hotel rooms. Depending on your dates, the Kids Suite may give you the space you need for less money.

Standard Two-Queen Room

I’ve also stayed in the standard two-queen room.

This room is approximately 342 square feet and sleeps up to four guests. It includes:

• Two queen beds
• Mini refrigerator
• Coffee maker
• Television
• Complimentary Wi-Fi
• Private balcony
• Hair dryer
• Iron and ironing board

The standard room is a good choice for a smaller family or anyone planning to spend most of the day inside Disneyland.

You won’t have the separate sleeping areas found in the suites, but you’ll still get the same walkable location and access to the hotel amenities. If you don’t need bunk beds or space for more than four people, this will usually be the most affordable room option.

Keep in mind that the standard two-queen room includes a mini refrigerator but may not include a microwave. Check your exact room description before booking if having a microwave is important to you.

Accessible Two-Queen Room

I have also stayed in the accessible two-queen room.

This room is approximately 342 square feet and sleeps up to four guests. The accessible room includes two queen beds, a refrigerator and additional accessibility features, including a roll-in shower, wider doorways and more room for mobility.

Accessibility needs can vary quite a bit, so I recommend contacting the hotel directly before booking. Confirm that the specific room available has every feature your family needs rather than assuming all accessible rooms have the same setup.

Other Suite Options

Portofino Inn & Suites has several additional room options that I haven’t stayed in but could be useful for different family sizes.

Galaxy Suite

The Galaxy Suite has the same basic setup as the Kids Suite but includes space-inspired décor.

It sleeps up to six guests and includes a private king bedroom, bunk beds, a pull-out sofa, French doors, two televisions, a microwave and a mini refrigerator.

If your kids love Star Wars, this could be a fun upgrade. I would compare the price with the regular Kids Suite since the room layout and sleeping capacity are very similar.

King Suite

The King Suite sleeps up to four guests. It includes a private bedroom with a king bed and a separate living area with a pull-out sofa.

This could work well for a couple or smaller family who wants more space and privacy but doesn’t need bunk beds.

Two-Bedroom Suites

Select two-bedroom suites sleep up to eight guests and offer approximately 820 square feet of space.

The layouts include a private king bedroom, a second room with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa. Some categories include one shared bathroom, while the Two-Bedroom Superior Suite has two full bathrooms.

Pay close attention to the bathroom count before booking. Eight people and one bathroom could make getting to rope drop on time much more challenging!

Interior Room Access

Another nice feature is that Portofino Inn & Suites has interior room access.

Many of the older motels near Disneyland have exterior corridors with room doors that open directly outside. At Portofino, you enter the guest-room areas from inside the building.

This may not be a deciding factor for everyone, but some families prefer the feeling of interior hotel hallways, especially when returning late at night.

The hotel has an outdoor pool, sundeck and hot tub.

It isn’t an elaborate water park, but it gives kids somewhere to swim during a midday break or on an arrival day. If the hotel pool is going to be a major part of your vacation, you may want to compare it with some of the Disneyland-area hotels that have larger water-play areas.

Complimentary Wi-Fi

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

Fitness Center

There is a small fitness center available for guests, although you may decide the 20,000 steps you walked around Disneyland were enough exercise for one day.

Laundry Facilities

Guest laundry facilities are available. This is helpful during longer trips or when you’re traveling with younger kids.

Gift Shop

The hotel has an on-site gift shop with snacks and beverages.

There is also a CVS very close to the hotel. It’s convenient for grabbing bottled water, snacks, sunscreen, medicine or anything else you forgot to pack.

Room Service Through CAMO Eats

Portofino Inn & Suites does not have its own restaurant, but guests can order from several nearby restaurants through CAMO Eats.

You can order from multiple menus and have the food delivered to your room without additional delivery or service fees. This can be a nice option after a long park day when no one has the energy for another sit-down meal.

Does Portofino Inn & Suites Have Free Breakfast?

Portofino Inn & Suites does not include complimentary breakfast.

Rooms have coffee makers and mini refrigerators. The Kids Suite, Galaxy Suite, King Suite and two-bedroom suites also include microwaves.

You could keep milk, yogurt, fruit or other simple breakfast items in your room. There are also several restaurants within walking distance, including options near Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue.

If free breakfast is a priority, compare Portofino with some of the other hotels I’ve reviewed. Depending on the size of your family, an included breakfast could make a noticeable difference in the total cost of your trip.

Parking at Portofino Inn & Suites

Parking is one detail you need to look at carefully because the cost can change depending on how you book.

At the time of writing, the hotel’s direct website lists self-parking at $30 plus tax per night. Get Away Today currently lists a $9.95 nightly resort fee that includes parking for one vehicle.

That’s a big enough difference that I wouldn’t automatically book the first room rate I found.

Before making your reservation, compare the complete cost, including:

• Room rate
• Taxes
• Parking
• Resort fees
• Cancellation terms
• Any included Disneyland tickets or package benefits

A lower advertised nightly price is not always the cheapest option once all the fees are added.

I’ve stayed in the Kids Suite, the standard two-queen room and the accessible two-queen room. The biggest advantage across all three stays is the hotel’s flexibility. You can book a basic room for four people, a Kids Suite for six or a two-bedroom suite for a much larger group.

The Kids Suite is the main reason I would choose Portofino over a traditional hotel room. Having a separate kids’ area, bunk beds, a microwave and two vanity spaces makes the room much more practical for a family.

I also like that you can walk to Disneyland without worrying about a shuttle schedule.

Portofino Inn & Suites won’t be right for everyone. If you want a luxury hotel, a huge pool or complimentary breakfast, I would look at other options. But if you want a family-friendly room within walking distance of Disneyland, it deserves a spot on your list.
