Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or half-and-half for a richer taste)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 8 slices thick-cut bread (Brioche, Challah, French Bread, or Texas
  • 2 Tbsp butter (for cooking)
  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh berries (for serving)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined. You can also blend the batter in a blender to ensure it's completely smooth.
  • Soak the Bread: Dip each slice of bread into the batter, allowing it to soak for about 10-15 seconds per side. Make sure the bread absorbs enough liquid without becoming overly saturated.
  • Heat the Pan: Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • Cook the French Toast: Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  • Serve Immediately: Transfer the French toast to a plate and keep warm while you cook the remaining slices. Serve with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh berries for the ultimate breakfast treat.
