Please be aware, that Disney theme parks all require park tickets and reservations. Make sure you have both! Please don’t pay full price for your Disney tickets or hotel. My partners at Get Away Today have the very best deals on tickets and hotels. Their customer service is top-notch and they even have layaway plans. If you book a package with park tickets and a hotel room you can use my code MIX10 to save an extra $10. That’s more churro money, friends! You can book online here. Or, give them a call at 1-855-GET-AWAY and tell them Mix In Some Magic sent you for the very best deals!
I have a bunch of hotel reviews that might be helpful for you if you’re still trying to decide where you’d like to stay. I prefer to stay at a hotel within walking distance of the Disney parks. This is a great option for our family because I love being able to just walk over to the parks and walk back to the hotel when the day is over.
Charging Your Phone At Disneyland
Charging your phone at Disneyland doesn’t have to be hard. Here are some tips for keeping your phone charged longer and for charging your phone at Disneyland.
Tips For Extending Your Battery
Of course, you’ll be charging your phone at Disneyland while you’re there, but there are a few things you can do to make your smart phone battery last a bit longer. Make sure you start the day with a fully charged phone! At the beginning of the day, switch your phone into low battery mode. This will help conserve the battery.
You can also lower the screen brightness on your electronic device. I’ve found that this is the best option to make my phone battery last as long as possible. You can also put your phone in airplane mode to conserve battery life.
Portable Charger
A good portable charger is essential when visiting a Disney property. I found one that I really like on Amazon. I just make sure I charge it up at the hotel the night before, bring my USB cable to the parks along with my portable power bank and I’m good to go all day long! This is the easiest way to keep your phone charged at Disneyland. I try to remember to pull out the portable battery and charge my phone while we’re sitting down for meals so that I never run out of power.
Bringing my own portable battery pack is my favorite way of charging my phone at Disneyland because it’s very convenient and I can charge on the go. I don’t want to have to stand next to a wall outlet for an hour while my mobile device is charging.
But, what if your phone charger breaks while you’re in the parks? Or, what if you forget to bring your USB cord? I’ve had both of these things happen to me and luckily, Disney has an easy, convenient fix to the problem!
Fuel Rods
Fuel Rods are a great way to charge your electronic devices. This is the perfect option for people who forget their portable chargers or just don’t want to mess with bringing their own. Fuel rods make charging your phone at Disneyland simple and easy.
There are several fuel rod kiosks throughout the Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure Parks. You simply purchase a fuel rod(they don’t cost much money. I think I paid $30) from one of the fuel rod vending machines. It will come with a charging cartridge and several USB options. There will be one that works with your phone. You can plug your mobile device into the charging cartridge and you’re on your way!
Once the charging cartridge is out of power, you can exchange it for free for a fully charged fuel rod at a fuel rod machine. You can do free swaps whenever you need to. It’s really quite handy and convenient.
So, you pay for the original kit with the charging cartridge and the USB cords, but after that, you can exchange it an unlimited amount of times. I’ve been swapping them out for free for over a year! Fuel rods make charging your phone at Disneyland very convenient.
If you’re looking for a fuel rod charging station, just pull up your Disneyland app and search for “fuel rod stations” and it will pull up a map with all the locations so you can easily find the closest one to you.
The only downside I’ve found with using them is that they often don’t fully charge my phone before they are out of power. So, I find myself switching them out constantly. Which is fine, especially if that’s my only option. But, I prefer to use my own portable cell phone charger. I feel like it chargers my phone much faster and more fully than the fuel rods.
Wall Charger
The last option for charging your phone at Disneyland is using a wall charger. This is the worst option and I really don’t recommend charging your phone at Disneyland this way. There are very few locations for guests to use wall chargers. Plus, you’re family members are going to be off having fun while you’re sitting in some corner for an hour missing out on the fun. I know several of the bathrooms have wall outlets, but you’ll have to sit on the floor to use them(gross!). You can occasionally find electrical boxes in the bushes that you can use to charge your phone, but again, not a great option.
If you really have no other option, ask a cast member if they can point you in the direction of the nearest wall plugs. But, it’s probably a good idea to just use a fuel rod or bring your own portable charger. The extra cost of bringing your own portable charging system or buying a fuel rod is well worth the time saved searching for a usable outlet and waiting for your phone to charge.
