Yes, you can buy Disneyland tickets at the gate. Disneyland still sells theme park tickets in person at the Main Entrance Ticket Booths in the Esplanade between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. But I really don’t recommend waiting until you arrive to buy them.

The important thing to understand is that buying a ticket at the gate does not guarantee you’ll be able to enter the park that day. Every guest age 3 and older needs both valid theme park admission and a theme park reservation for the same date and starting park. If reservations are gone, the ticket booth can’t magically create more availability for you. You could make it all the way to Disneyland and still not get into the park. That’s not a risk I would take with a Disneyland vacation!

Can You Buy Disneyland Tickets at the Gate?

Disneyland Resort has Main Entrance Ticket Booths where you can purchase tickets in person, subject to availability. The booths are located in the Esplanade between the entrances to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

However, there is no special supply of same-day reservations saved for guests buying tickets at the booths. The ticket booth and the online system use the same park-reservation availability. If the day or starting park you want is unavailable online, arriving at the ticket booth will not give you access to a hidden group of reservations.

My advice: Buy your tickets before your vacation and make your park reservations as soon as you receive them. It takes one major thing off your to-do list, lets you check your dates before traveling and saves you from spending valuable morning park time waiting at a ticket booth.

Why Buying Disneyland Tickets at the Gate Is Risky

• Park reservations may be unavailable. A valid ticket alone is not enough to enter Disneyland or Disney California Adventure.
• You may lose valuable park time. I want to be heading toward my first attraction in the morning, not standing in a ticket-purchase line.
• You could miss discounted tickets. Authorized ticket sellers may offer savings that you won’t get by waiting until you reach the resort.
• Your planning becomes harder. You need a confirmed starting park before you can confidently plan dining, rope drop and the rest of your day.

Where Should You Buy Disneyland Tickets?

You can buy tickets through Disneyland’s website or app, but I normally buy mine through Get Away Today. They are an authorized Disneyland ticket seller, and their tickets are often discounted from Disneyland’s direct price. I’ve been using Get Away Today for years, and I genuinely love their customer service.

After your Get Away Today tickets are paid in full, the electronic tickets are sent to you. You can link them to your Disneyland account, make your park reservations and then scan the tickets from your phone when you enter. You do not need to stand in the ticket-booth line to exchange an electronic ticket.

Get Away Today also sells Disneyland hotel-and-ticket packages and offers interest-free payment plans on qualifying vacations. If you book a package, use code MIX10 to save an extra $10. You can also call 855-GET-AWAY and tell them Mix In Some Magic sent you.

One important detail: if you use a Get Away Today payment plan, you won’t receive the ticket numbers until the balance is paid in full. Since you need those numbers to make your park reservations, don’t schedule the final payment too close to your vacation. Make sure you understand the current refund and change rules for the specific ticket you’re purchasing too, because promotional and standard tickets can have different terms.

You Still Need a Disneyland Park Reservation

Every guest age 3 and older currently needs two things to enter a Disneyland Resort theme park:

1. Valid theme park admission
2. A theme park reservation for the same date and starting park

If you have a multi-day ticket, you need a reservation for every park day. If you have a Park Hopper ticket, choose the park where you plan to begin your day. You do not need a separate reservation for the second park. Park hopping currently begins at 11:00 a.m., subject to park availability and any operational changes.

Check Disneyland’s theme park reservation availability calendar before buying. Availability can change until the reservation is finalized, so seeing an open date is not the same as holding it. Once your tickets are linked, finish the reservation process and confirm that every person in your group has the correct date and starting park.

What Type of Disneyland Ticket Should You Buy?

1-Park Per Day Tickets

A 1-Park Per Day ticket lets you visit either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park each day. You cannot switch parks during the day. This is the less expensive option, and it can work very well if you prefer a slower pace or are visiting both parks on separate days.

Park Hopper Tickets

A Park Hopper ticket lets you visit both parks on the same day. You select a starting park when making your reservation and may cross to the other park beginning at the current park-hopping time, subject to capacity. I like Park Hopper tickets because the two entrances are only a short walk apart. The flexibility is especially helpful when one park is busy, entertainment changes or a Lightning Lane return time pulls you across the Esplanade.

One-Day and Multi-Day Tickets

Disneyland’s standard one-day ticket prices vary by date. Busier dates generally cost more, and your one-day ticket is tied to the date selected when you purchase it. Multi-day tickets are available for longer trips, with the exact use window and expiration shown in the ticket terms. Children ages 3 through 9 use child tickets, guests age 10 and older use adult tickets, and children under age 3 do not need a theme park ticket.

Disneyland also offers limited-time promotions for certain ages, travel dates or eligible residents. Those deals can have their own reservation calendars, expiration dates and identification requirements, so read the details carefully instead of assuming they work like a standard ticket.

Should You Add Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is an optional add-on that gives you access to Lightning Lane entrances at participating attractions, subject to availability. It also includes unlimited digital downloads of Disney PhotoPass photos from the day of your visit.

You may be able to add Lightning Lane Multi Pass when you buy your tickets or upgrade an eligible ticket before your trip. You can also buy it in the Disneyland app after entering a theme park, subject to availability. I usually recommend adding it in advance if you already know you want it. That way, you don’t have to think about purchasing it after you scan into the park and you’re ready to make your first selection immediately.
