Disneyland In June

Summertime is an optimal time for many people to visit. This makes visiting Disneyland in June very popular! Although crowds can be higher due to Summer breaks across the country, you’ll still be able to have a great time on your Disneyland vacation. Summer is the best time for many families to visit. Being able to go on a vacation without kids missing school is really nice. Lots of families prefer to visit during the summertime over spring break.

There are lots of fun things taking place at Disneyland in June. Most of the rides at Disneyland are up and running(Disneyland does a lot of ride closures for refurbishments in January/February), and the nighttime entertainment is amazing. Park hours are longer during the summer months, which is really nice!

What to Expect

June in Disneyland has lots to offer! Let’s talk about what you can expect if you’re visiting Disneyland in June.

Crowds

June crowd calendar 2024

Disneyland in June will be fairly crowded and stay consistently crowded for the rest of the summer. Summer break brings in lots of guests this time of year. Although summertime is technically peak season at Disneyland, please don’t let crowds scare you away. You can still have a good time, even if it’s crowded. I’ve got lots of info for dealing with high crowd levels here. For the lowest June crowds, visit during the first week of the month. The best days to visit for lower crowds are Tuesday – Friday, avoiding weekends.

Grad Nite celebrations bring in higher crowds, so avoid those days(if possible). More info on Grad Nites is below.

Using Genie Plus can really save you time in long lines. I’ll go into more detail on Genie Plus below.

Weather

The weather at Disneyland in June is starting to heat up! It’s not usually miserable though. During the summer months, the average high is 81 degrees F. The average low is 61 degrees F. Mornings in southern California can be a bit foggy, but the fog burns off by the afternoon. The locals call this “June gloom”.

Make sure you keep an eye on the weather before your trip so you can be prepared! Don’t forget the sunscreen and sunglasses! I’ve got lots of ideas for beating the heat at Disneyland below.

Wondering what to wear when you visit Disneyland this summer? Make sure you choose clothing that’s cool and comfortable. The shoes you wear matter too! I have a full guide about what to wear to Disneyland in June. You can find it here.

Events and Ride Closures

Here are the events you need to know about if you’re visiting Disneyland in June. There are a lot of things going on during the month of June at Disneyland! Disneyland has longer hours of operation during the summer. Check the Disneyland app to find out park hours during your visit.

I’ll update this section with ride closures and event dates for 2024 as soon as Disneyland releases that information.

Grad Nites

Disneyland host Grad Nites on select nights in May and June. Local graduating high school seniors come to the parks to celebrate their high school graduation. Grads need a special event ticket that school groups can purchase. Some Grad Nite tickets give kids access to just Disney California Adventure Park. Some give them access to both parks.

California Adventure will close early on Grad Nites so that the teens can have the parks all to themselves. So, Disneyland will become extra crowded in the evening. If you’re visiting during a Grad Nite, don’t stress. You’re still going to have a great time, you’ll just need to adjust your plans a bit. Whenever I’ve visited on Grad Nites, I’ve still had a great time. You can find out more about Grad Nites along with the dates here.

Night Time Entertainment

Here’s what you can expect from the Night time entertainment when visiting Disneyland in June.

The Fantasmic! Show is back this summer! It’s a great show and you should definitely make time to see it on your visit.

Wondrous Journey

This nighttime show is pretty incredible! Using music, lights, and projections your favorite Disney moments are recreated! It’s pretty magical! The show is followed by fireworks on select nights. Check your app for show time.

World of Color One

World of Color One is an incredible show using water, lights, projections, fire, and music! It takes place in Disney California Adventure Park. This show is a favorite of many! Check the app for show times.

World Of Color Dessert Party

Disneyland offers several dining packages and dessert parties. These packages include reserved seating to nighttime shows and yummy food. I recently did the Plaza Inn parade dining package and I really enjoyed it! The prices and what’s included vary by package. I’ve got a post about Disneyland dining packages that goes into detail on what’s included in each package. Make sure you check it out!

Disneyland dining packages almost always require an advanced reservation. You can make reservations 60 days in advance.

What to Pack For Disneyland

Disneyland packing list

I’ve got a free printable packing list so you don’t forget anything! Make sure you print it out before your vacation.

Make sure you have everything you need! Having a well-packed park bag is incredibly helpful anytime you’re on a Disney trip. Disney will have most things you might need for sale, but it will be pricey. Don’t get stuck paying a small fortune for something you easily could have brought from home or purchased at a much lower price at home. Here’s a list of Disney park bag essentials that I like to have with me while I’m inside the parks.

I also save a ton of money by buying things on Amazon before my trip. I’ve created a whole list of things I purchase before my Disney trips on Amazon. You really can’t beat the convenience of having what you need shipped right to your front door! Here’s my Disney trip Amazon list.

I also have a month-by-month guide on what to wear to Disneyland that might help you if you’re having trouble deciding what to pack.

Heat At Disneyland

Disneyland in June is going to be hot. There’s really no way around it. There is lots of things you can do to help beat the heat at Disneyland. I love taking advantage of the water rides during the hottest part of the day! Riding Grizzly River Run is a great way to cool off! You can also take advantage of inside rides with lots of air conditioning like “it’s a small world” or Haunted Mansion. Lots of water and cold treats are also a great idea! Have you considered a midday break? It might be a good option for you! I’ve got a whole post about how to beat the heat at Disneyland. Check it out!
