Visiting Santa at the Disneyland Resort is one of those holiday experiences that feels extra magical. You already have the lights, music and Christmas decorations, and then you add Santa right in the middle of it all. It is pretty hard to beat.

Disney has confirmed that Santa is scheduled to return to the Disneyland Resort in 2026. You will be able to find him inside both theme parks and at all three Disneyland Resort hotels. I have visited Santa in several of these locations, and I definitely have a favorite. I will walk you through every option so you can choose the one that makes the most sense for your family.

The Holidays at the Disneyland Resort begin on November 18, 2026. Disney has not released every daily Santa appearance time yet, and those schedules can change. Check the Disneyland app or ask at the specific location on the day of your visit.

You do not need to visit all five. There is no prize for completing the Disneyland Santa circuit. Choose the location that fits naturally into your day and enjoy it.

Holiday Fun with Santa & Friends at Fantasyland Theatre

In Disneyland Park, Santa visits Fantasyland Theatre near Mickey’s Toontown. This is more than a quick Santa photo. Disney’s Holiday Fun with Santa & Friends is scheduled to return in 2026 with crafts, holiday songs, story time, animated holiday shorts and festive photo spots.

You may also see classic Disney characters such as Chip ‘n’ Dale, Goofy or Pluto joining the fun. The character lineup and activities can change, which is part of why I would not build your whole day around one specific character appearing at a specific time.

I like this location for families who want a little more than a meet-and-greet. If the Santa line is longer than your child can handle, you can enjoy some of the other activities and check back. Fantasyland Theatre also gives you a natural place to slow down during a busy park day.

Important: You need valid Disneyland Park admission and a reservation for Disneyland on the same date. Check the app and the posted schedule at Fantasyland Theatre when you arrive.

Santa’s Holiday Visit at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is my favorite place to meet Santa at Disneyland Resort. Santa meets guests near Ahwahnee Camp Circle, close to the entrance of the trail. The wooded setting feels cozy and festive, and the photo backdrop is adorable.

The best part is that this is not just a line leading to Santa. Disney has confirmed that the trail will include seasonal games and activities in 2026. Families can pick up an activity map, look for Santa’s colorful presents and solve a secret puzzle. There is also plenty of space for kids to explore and burn off a little energy.

Redwood Creek normally has climbing areas, slides and a ropes course. Some activities have height or age requirements, but much of the trail is open to everyone. This can be a lifesaver when one adult is holding a place in line and the kids are done standing still. One child will suddenly need a snack at the exact moment your turn approaches. I do not make the rules.

This location can become popular, so I would check the schedule and wait earlier in your day. If meeting Santa is the thing your child has talked about for six months, do not save it for your final hour in the park.

Important: You need valid Disney California Adventure admission and a reservation for that park on the same date. Appearance times vary, so use the Disneyland app and the signs at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

Meeting Santa at the Disneyland Resort Hotels

Santa is also scheduled to visit all three Disneyland Resort hotels in 2026. You do not need a theme-park ticket to visit a hotel location, which makes these stops a good option on an arrival day, departure day or non-park day.

Hotel appearance times can be limited and may differ by day. Ask at the hotel’s front desk or Guest Services for the current schedule. I would not drive to a hotel and pay for parking just for an unconfirmed Santa time. These locations work best when you are already staying nearby, visiting Downtown Disney or have a dining reservation at the hotel.

Santa at the Disneyland Hotel

Santa meets in the Disneyland Hotel’s main lobby. This is an easy choice if you are staying at the hotel, eating nearby or spending time in Downtown Disney. Confirm the appearance time before walking over because the schedule is not guaranteed to be the same every day.

Santa at Pixar Place Hotel

At Pixar Place Hotel, Santa visits the main lobby. This can be a convenient option if you are staying on the west side of the resort or already planning to explore the hotel.

Santa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

Santa visits the Great Hall at the Grand Californian. The huge Christmas tree, fireplace and beautiful lobby make this one of the prettiest holiday settings at the resort. Even without Santa, I love stopping in to see the decorations.

Hotel Santa lines may feel more relaxed than an in-park location, but I would not promise a short wait. Holiday weekends and evenings can still be busy. Check the schedule, give yourself time and remember that each family gets its own interaction.

See Santa in A Christmas Fantasy Parade

Your child does not have to sit on Santa’s lap to have a magical Santa moment. Santa appears in the grand finale of A Christmas Fantasy Parade, which is scheduled to return to Disneyland Park on November 18, 2026.

This is a great option for children who love Santa from a comfortable distance. They can wave, take pictures and enjoy the parade without the pressure of a face-to-face meeting. Sometimes the best Santa photo is the one where your toddler is five feet away and happily waving.

The parade may not run every day, and showtimes can change. Check the Disneyland entertainment calendar or app for your visit date.

When Does Santa Leave Disneyland?

Santa traditionally visits through Christmas Eve and then heads back to the North Pole. Disney has not yet published the final 2026 appearance date for every location, so do not treat December 24 as a guarantee until the schedules are posted.

If you are visiting after Christmas and meeting Santa is important, check the official schedule before promising the kids. The Disneyland holiday season continues after Christmas, but Santa experiences do not always continue with it.

My Best Tips for Meeting Santa at Disneyland

• Check the schedule that morning. Do not rely on a time you saw online weeks before your trip.
• Go earlier if Santa is a must-do. You will have more flexibility if an appearance is delayed or the line is longer than expected.
• Bring the letter. If your child wrote a note for Santa, tuck it into your park bag before leaving the hotel.
• Prepare younger kids. Show them a picture of Santa and let them decide whether they want to sit beside him, stand nearby or simply wave.
• Keep your phone ready. Even if a Disney PhotoPass photographer is available, I always take a few pictures on my own phone too.
• Have a backup location. If the park line does not work for your family, check one of the hotel schedules instead.
• Do not force the photo. A happy wave from a few feet away is better than a crying lap picture nobody enjoyed.

Disney PhotoPass and Santa Photos

Disney PhotoPass photographers may be available at select Santa locations, but photographer availability can vary. Check the Disneyland app and ask a Cast Member when you arrive.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass currently includes unlimited downloads of Disney PhotoPass digital photos from your park day, including pictures taken by select in-park photographers. Make sure the photographer links the photos to the correct Disney account before you leave.

At the hotels, bring your own phone or camera. There may be a Disney PhotoPass photographer or Cast Member nearby, but I would not count on it. Set up your camera before it is your turn so you are not digging through your bag while Santa waits.

Other Holiday Characters at Disneyland

Santa is not the only one dressed for the holidays. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and friends appear in seasonal outfits around the resort, and Fantasyland Theatre may feature characters such as Chip ‘n’ Dale, Goofy and Pluto during Holiday Fun with Santa & Friends.
