Strawberry Almond Twists
Disneyland Copy Cat Recipe from Maurice's Treats!
- 1 Cup Strawberries(sliced)
- 1 1/4 Cup Sugar (divided)
- 1/4 Cup Fresh lemon juice
- 2 Sheets Puff Pastry
- 2 oz Almond paste
- 3 Tablespoons Butter(softened)
- 1 large Egg
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
Step 1: Prepare the Strawberry Filling
Slice 1 cup of fresh strawberries.
In a medium saucepan, combine the strawberries with 1 cup of sugar and the lemon juice.
Mash the strawberries slightly and heat the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
Increase the heat to high and bring to a boil for 5 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
Let the mixture cool completely before using.
Step 2: Make the Almond Cream
In a mixing bowl, combine almond paste, softened butter, egg, and vanilla.
Beat the mixture until light and fluffy.
Assemble the Pastries
Lay one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured cutting board.
Spread a layer of almond cream evenly across the surface.
Add a thin layer of the cooled strawberry mixture on top of the almond cream.
Cover with the second sheet of puff pastry.
Refrigerate the assembled pastry for 15 minutes to make it easier to handle.
Step 4: Shape the Twists
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Cut the pastry into 6 even strips.
Twist each strip at least three times and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Brush each twist with an egg wash for a golden finish.
Step 5: Bake and Decorate
Bake in the preheated oven for 20–22 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
Allow the twists to cool completely.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar or slivered almonds for an extra touch of sweetness.
