Strawberry Almond Twists

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Strawberries(sliced)
  • 1 1/4 Cup Sugar (divided)
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh lemon juice
  • 2 Sheets Puff Pastry
  • 2 oz Almond paste
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter(softened)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Strawberry Filling

  • Slice 1 cup of fresh strawberries.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the strawberries with 1 cup of sugar and the lemon juice.
  • Mash the strawberries slightly and heat the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Increase the heat to high and bring to a boil for 5 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
  • Let the mixture cool completely before using.

Step 2: Make the Almond Cream

  • In a mixing bowl, combine almond paste, softened butter, egg, and vanilla.
  • Beat the mixture until light and fluffy.

Assemble the Pastries

  • Lay one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured cutting board.
  • Spread a layer of almond cream evenly across the surface.
  • Add a thin layer of the cooled strawberry mixture on top of the almond cream.
  • Cover with the second sheet of puff pastry.
  • Refrigerate the assembled pastry for 15 minutes to make it easier to handle.

Step 4: Shape the Twists

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Cut the pastry into 6 even strips.
  • Twist each strip at least three times and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Brush each twist with an egg wash for a golden finish.

Step 5: Bake and Decorate

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20–22 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
  • Allow the twists to cool completely.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar or slivered almonds for an extra touch of sweetness.
