What Are the Best Days of the Week to Visit Disneyland in 2026?

If you’re trying to choose your Disneyland dates, you’ve probably wondered if one day of the week is better than another. I get this question all the time! Everyone wants to find that magical day with shorter lines and lighter crowds.

Here’s the quick answer: Sunday is almost always the least crowded day of the week at Disneyland now. I know that sounds surprising, but I’ve watched the wait times and tested enough park days to feel very comfortable saying it. If Sunday doesn’t work for your trip, Tuesday and Wednesday are usually my next choices.

I’ve spent a slightly ridiculous amount of time watching Disneyland wait times, testing different arrival times and comparing crowd calendars. The biggest thing I’ve learned is that the old “weekdays are empty and weekends are packed” rule just doesn’t work the way it used to. Disneyland crowd patterns have changed, and Sundays consistently perform better than most people expect.

What Is the Least Crowded Day at Disneyland?

Sunday is almost always the least crowded day of the week at Disneyland. This goes against the old advice that the middle of the week is automatically best, but the crowd patterns have shifted. Sundays regularly have lower wait times than Monday, Friday and Saturday, and they often beat the traditional midweek days too.

My theory is that tourists often use Sunday as a travel day, while many local guests visit on Friday night or Saturday and save Sunday for getting ready for the week. Whatever the reason, Sunday has become the day I recommend first when someone has flexibility.

Of course, a holiday weekend or a major seasonal event can make any day busy. Easter Sunday, the Sunday before Christmas and other special dates are not going to follow a normal weekly pattern. But on a regular week, Sunday is usually your best bet.

Disneyland Crowds by Day of the Week

Sunday

Sunday is my number-one choice and almost always the least crowded day now. It may still look busy when you first walk down Main Street, but attraction wait times are often better than they are on the surrounding days. Sundays can get even better later in the afternoon and evening as local visitors head home.

Monday

Monday is often much busier than people expect. Lots of families extend a weekend trip, and people who assume Monday will be slow all show up with the same idea. I would choose Sunday over Monday almost every time.

Tuesday

Tuesday is usually one of my better weekday choices. The weekend crowd has cleared out, and many Southern California locals are back at work or school. During Halloween Time, check for Oogie Boogie Bash because Disney California Adventure closes early to regular guests on party nights. That can shift crowds into Disneyland.

Wednesday

Wednesday is another solid weekday choice and is less likely to be attached to a holiday weekend. The tradeoff is that some nighttime entertainment may only run on select nights during slower seasons, so check the official Disneyland calendar before you commit.

Thursday

Thursday can be a good option, especially earlier in the day, but crowds may start building as the weekend gets closer. I would still usually choose Thursday over Friday or Saturday. During Halloween season, select Thursday nights may also have Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure.

Friday

Friday mornings can be manageable, but crowds often grow as the day goes on. Local guests arrive after work or school, and weekend vacationers start their trips. If Friday is your only option, arrive before opening and use those first few hours well.

Saturday

Saturday is generally the day I expect to feel busiest. It is convenient for everyone, which is exactly the problem! The upside is that Saturdays often have long park hours and a full entertainment schedule. If Saturday works best for your family, go on Saturday. A good plan matters more than choosing a “perfect” day that makes the rest of your trip difficult.

What Matters More Than the Day of the Week?

Sunday is the best starting point, but I still check the specific date before booking. These things can override the usual weekly pattern:

• School breaks and holidays: Spring break, Thanksgiving week and Christmas vacation can make any day busy.
• One-day ticket prices: Disney charges more for dates when it expects higher demand. A lower-priced date can be a helpful clue, although it is not a crowd guarantee.
• Magic Key access: Blockout dates and reservation availability can change how many local passholders visit.
• Special events: Oogie Boogie Bash, Grad Nite and other events can affect hours and crowd flow.
• Park hours and entertainment: A slightly busier day with longer hours and all the nighttime shows may give you more value than a shorter weekday.
• Weather: Rain and extreme heat can change crowds quickly, but forecasts are only helpful once your trip gets closer.

My Personal Recommendation

If I were planning a one-day Disneyland visit and had complete flexibility, I would choose Sunday first. Then I would check ticket prices, the entertainment calendar, special events and nearby holidays before making the final decision.

If Sunday doesn’t work, I would look at Tuesday or Wednesday next. For a multi-day trip, Sunday through Tuesday can be a really nice combination because you get the quieter Sunday and then move into the middle of the week.
