If you’re planning a Disneyland trip and looking for a hotel that is comfortable, practical, and not directly across the street from the parks, the Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove might be on your list.

I recently stayed at this Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel, and I wanted to share what it’s really like, including the rooms, location, transportation, breakfast, parking, amenities, and who I think this hotel makes the most sense for.

Because this is one of those hotels where I don’t think the answer is the same for everyone.

The big question is: Is it worth staying a little farther from Disneyland if the hotel gives you better value?

For some families, I think the answer could be yes.

Quick Review: Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove Near Disneyland

The Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove is located in Garden Grove, California, near the Disneyland Resort. It’s close to Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney, but it is not one of the hotels directly across the street from the parks.

That means location and transportation are the biggest things to think through before you book.

Here’s the quick version:

Best for: Families who want a clean, comfortable hotel near Disneyland and are okay using a shuttle, rideshare, or driving.

Not best for: Families who want the easiest possible walk to Disneyland.

Biggest perks: Comfortable rooms, fridge and microwave, pool, hot tub, breakfast options, and extra perks when booking through Get Away Today.

Biggest downside: It is not a true walk-across-the-street Disneyland hotel.

Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove Location

The Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove is on Harbor Boulevard in Garden Grove. It’s still close to Disneyland, but it is not in the main “right across the street from Disneyland” hotel area.

For most families, I would not call this a walk-to-Disneyland hotel.

Could some adults walk it? Yes.

Would I personally want to walk it at the end of a long Disneyland day with tired kids, a stroller, backpacks, snacks, souvenirs, and feet that have given up on life? Probably not.

That doesn’t mean it’s a bad location. It just means you need a transportation plan.

If your family is comfortable using a shuttle, Uber, Lyft, or driving to the parks, this hotel can work well. But if your dream is to leave Disneyland after fireworks and be back in your room in just a few minutes, you may want to stay closer.

Transportation to Disneyland

Transportation is probably the most important thing to think about before booking Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove.

This hotel is served by the Garden Grove shuttle system, which can be a helpful option if the schedule works for your trip.

But I always tell people this: don’t just ask, “Does the hotel have a shuttle?”

Ask, “Does the shuttle work for the way I do Disneyland?”

That’s a much better question.

Before your stay, I recommend checking the current shuttle schedule and cost, especially if rope drop is important to you. If you want to be at security really early, you’ll want to make sure the first shuttle gets you there early enough. If it doesn’t, you may decide Uber or Lyft is easier in the morning.

You’ll also want to think about your return trip at the end of the night. Leaving after fireworks or park closing can be busy no matter what transportation option you choose, so it’s better to have a plan before everyone is exhausted and someone is crying in a bubble wand line. Maybe the kids. Maybe you.

Your transportation options from this hotel include:

  • Using the Garden Grove shuttle
  • Taking Uber or Lyft
  • Driving and parking at Disneyland
  • Walking, if your group is comfortable with the distance

For me, this hotel works best if you’re okay not walking every time.

Rooms at Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove

The rooms at Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove are simple, clean, and practical, which is honestly what a lot of families need for a Disneyland trip.

This is not a heavily themed Disney hotel, and it’s not trying to be. It’s more of a comfortable, familiar hotel room where you can sleep, recharge, and get ready for another park day.

Many rooms include two queen beds, which is a good setup for families. The rooms also include helpful Disneyland-trip basics like a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, desk area, and Wi-Fi.

And I know a fridge and microwave don’t sound very exciting, but for Disneyland, they matter.

You can keep drinks cold, store leftovers, bring breakfast items, keep milk or snacks for kids, and save a little money instead of buying every single thing in the parks.

I always care about the boring stuff like fridges, microwaves, breakfast, and parking because that’s where Disneyland trips get expensive fast.

Hotel Amenities

The Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove has several amenities that are helpful for families visiting Disneyland.

You’ll find:

  • Outdoor pool
  • Hot tub
  • Fitness center
  • Laundry
  • On-site dining
  • Market/snack area
  • Wi-Fi
  • Indoor corridors

The pool and hot tub are especially nice if your family likes taking breaks from the parks.

I don’t think this is the easiest hotel for a quick one-hour midday break because you do need to factor in transportation time. But if you’re planning a slower trip or a longer afternoon rest, the pool and hot tub are great amenities to have.

The laundry is also helpful for longer trips, especially if you’re visiting during hot weather or traveling with kids. Disneyland clothes can get sweaty, sticky, churro-y, and mysterious very quickly.

Breakfast at Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove

Breakfast is one of the most important things to check before booking this hotel.

Breakfast is not automatically included with every Hilton Garden Inn booking, so make sure you look at the details of your specific reservation.

This is one reason I like pricing this hotel through Get Away Today.

Get Away Today is one of my travel partners, and they often have extra hotel perks that can make a Disneyland trip easier and more affordable. At Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove, Get Away Today currently offers breakfast perks when you book through them, which can be a big savings for families.

Disneyland mornings are already a lot. Getting everyone dressed, sunscreened, packed, fed, and out the door can feel like a full Olympic event.

Having breakfast included or easy to access can make the morning so much smoother.

Parking

Parking is another cost to pay attention to when comparing hotels near Disneyland.

One thing I like about booking this hotel through Get Away Today is that they currently offer a discount on parking, which can help with the overall cost of your trip.

I recommend comparing the full price before you book, not just the nightly room rate.

When you compare Disneyland hotels, look at:

  • Room rate
  • Parking
  • Breakfast
  • Shuttle or rideshare costs
  • Any extra fees
  • How easy it is to get to and from the parks

A hotel that looks cheaper at first may not actually be cheaper once you add everything up. And sometimes a hotel that looks a little more expensive gives you better value because it includes helpful perks.

This is why I always look at the full trip cost, not just the room price that pops up first.

Booking Through Get Away Today

Get Away Today is one of my favorite ways to price Disneyland hotel packages because they often have extra perks built in.

For Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove, those perks can include things like breakfast benefits and a discount on parking, which can make a real difference for families.

You can check current prices and perks here.

Use code MIX10 on vacation packages.

You can also call Get Away Today at 855-GET-AWAY and tell them Mix In Some Magic sent you.

Checking Expedia Pricing

I also like to compare hotel pricing on Expedia, especially if you’re booking a room-only stay or want to compare different dates.

You can check Expedia pricing for Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove here.

My advice is to compare both options and look at the full cost, including breakfast, parking, transportation, and cancellation policies.

What I Liked About This Hotel

The biggest thing I liked about Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove is that it feels practical.

It has the things families actually use on a Disneyland trip: a fridge, microwave, pool, hot tub, laundry, breakfast option, and comfortable rooms.

I also like that it feels more like a traditional hotel than a basic motel setup. You have indoor corridors, a lobby, on-site dining, and more amenities than some of the smaller hotels near Disneyland.

The Get Away Today perks also make this hotel more appealing. Breakfast benefits and a discount on parking can make a big difference when you’re trying to keep your Disneyland trip budget under control.

What I Didn’t Love

The biggest downside is location.

This hotel is close to Disneyland, but it’s not close enough that I would recommend it for every family.

If you have toddlers who need daily naps and you want to go back and forth quickly, I would probably look at hotels closer to the parks.

If you want to walk back after fireworks in just a few minutes, this is not the hotel I would choose.

And if you hate waiting for shuttles, using rideshare, or dealing with parking, this hotel may feel less convenient than you want.

That doesn’t make it a bad hotel. It just means you need to be honest about the way your family does Disneyland.

A hotel can be great and still not be the best choice for your trip.

Who Should Stay at Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove?

I think Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove is a good fit for:

  • Families who want a comfortable hotel near Disneyland
  • Guests who are okay using a shuttle, Uber, Lyft, or driving
  • Families who want a fridge and microwave
  • Travelers who like having a pool and hot tub
  • People who want a familiar hotel brand
  • Families looking for better value than some of the closest hotels
  • Guests booking through Get Away Today who can use the extra perks

This hotel makes sense if you’re trying to balance comfort and value.

Is Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove Good for Families?

Yes, I think Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove can be a good hotel for families visiting Disneyland, as long as the transportation plan works for you.

The rooms are practical, the fridge and microwave are helpful, and the pool and hot tub are nice extras. The breakfast and parking perks available through Get Away Today can also be helpful for families trying to save money.

But I would only recommend it to families who are comfortable staying a little farther from the parks.

The hotel itself can be a good fit. The question is whether the location is a good fit for your family.

Final Thoughts

So, would I recommend Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove?

Yes, for the right trip.

I think this hotel is a solid Disneyland-area option if you want comfort, useful amenities, and good value, and you don’t mind having a transportation plan.

It’s not the hotel I would choose if I wanted the easiest possible walk to the parks. But if you’re okay using the shuttle, Uber, Lyft, or driving, this hotel can be a smart choice, especially if you book through Get Away Today and can take advantage of extra perks like breakfast benefits and a discount on parking.

Before you book, compare the full cost, check the current shuttle schedule, and be honest about how important walkability is for your family.

If the price is right and transportation works for your trip, Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove is definitely worth considering for your next Disneyland vacation.
