Understanding the Ride and Scoring System On Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
To maximize your score on the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride, it’s important to understand how the ride works and how points are awarded. Here’s a brief overview of this shooting gallery attraction:
Mechanics and Controls
- Each rider has a blaster that shoots lasers at targets throughout the ride.
- The blaster is located on the ride vehicle.
- Shoot the blaster by pulling the trigger.
- Guests can use a joystick on the ride vehicle to spin the car in all different directions. Take advantage of this to help you hit all the targets!
Scoring System
- The ride uses a point system to determine your score.
- Points are awarded for hitting targets, and the value of each target is different.
- Some targets are worth more than others, so focusing on high-value targets is essential to maximize your score.
Target Values
Here are the point values of each target.
- Circle targets – 100
- Square targets – 1,000
- Diamond targets – 5,000
- Triangle targets – 10,000
- Secret target- 50,000
As you can see, the diamond target and triangle targets will earn you the most points when you hit them with your laser blaster, so aim for them! The secret target is worth the most points. More info on that later!
Scoring the game
When the edges of each target are lit up, they are worth up to 10 times the points! That’s huge! So, aim for the Diamond and Triangle targets, especially when lit up for maximum points.
At the end of the attraction, you can see how you scored on Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. Here are the different levels.

By understanding the mechanics and the scoring system on Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, you’ll be better equipped to aim for high-value targets. In the next section, we’ll share some tips for achieving a high score on the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride.
Top Tips For A High Score On Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
Now that you understand the mechanics and scoring system of the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride let’s dive into some tips and tricks for achieving a high score.
1. Test your blaster’s aim: Fire it at your hand to get an idea of how it’s working. This will help you aim better during the ride.
2. Aim for the high-point targets: As mentioned earlier, some targets are worth more points than others. Look for the highest numerical value targets and aim for those first.
3. Focus on the moving targets: Some targets move throughout the ride, making them harder to hit but more valuable. Keep an eye out for these moving targets and focus on them.
4. Hit the same target repeatedly: If you’re on a roll with a target, keep going! You can get points for the same targets no matter how many times you hit them.
5. Keep shooting: Even if you don’t see any targets in your immediate vicinity, keep shooting your blaster. When you miss five shots in a row, you will be awarded 5 points. Just to make you feel better.
6. Look for hidden targets: Speaking of hidden targets, keep an eye out for targets that are hidden in plain sight. They may be camouflaged or located in unexpected places, so stay alert and be on the lookout.
7. Work with a partner to maximize points: If you’re riding with someone else, work together to maximize your points. You can help each other spot targets and coordinate your shots for maximum impact.
8. Utilize the joystick to spin the car and get a better angle on targets: Remember to use the joystick to turn your vehicle and get a better angle on targets. By rotating your car, you can hit previously out-of-reach targets.
9. Fire at the ceiling: There’s a point on the attraction where you’ll go through a short tunnel. There are hidden targets on the ceiling and walls that are not visible unless you hit them. Shoot them to earn more points!
10. Sit On the Left Side: Most targets are on this attraction’s left side. If you sit on the left side, you’ll easily hit them.
11. Keep firing even if the ride stops: This attraction often stops mid-ride. Use this to your advantage! Keep firing at those higher-score targets!
12. Practice to improve your accuracy: Practice makes perfect! Don’t stress if you don’t score well on your first try. Just do your best to improve the next time you ride.
13. Hit the secret targets: There’s a secret target on Zurg’s chest! You’ll find him early in the attraction and the last room. If you hit his Astro Blaster, he will turn towards you slightly, giving you a better chance of hitting it. The target is a tiny black hole, and it’s easy to miss, but you can do it!
14. Ride alone: It’s easier to hit the targets if you’re not distracted by the person beside you. Aiming is also easier when you can spread out in the space blaster vehicle. Plus, you have complete control of the car and can turn it in any direction you want.
15. Put Second Gun In Seat: Place the second gun in the seat if you’re riding alone. It lights up and can be distracting. You’ve got to focus!
16. Look behind Targets: Many higher-point targets are behind other targets. Stay alert and keep your eye out for the higher point targets.
17. Turn Around: In the final room with Zurg, turn your car around. You’ll see a giant red robot on his back with a circle target. Hit that, and a triangle target will pop up. This is the closest target on the attraction and easy to hit! You’ll rack up more points hitting this repeatedly than trying to hit the secret target on Zurg’s chest. This may be my best tip!
18. Keep Shooting! I know I already mentioned this, but it’s so important! Don’t ever stop shooting your blaster!
19. If you’re losing: If you’re losing, try to mess with your partner next to you. Spin the car, so it throws them off. Bump them when they’re shooting. That sort of thing! Ha, Ha. Just kidding. Sort of.
20. Believe in yourself: You can get a great score! Believe in yourself!
By following these tips and tricks, you’ll be well on your way to achieving a high score on the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride. If you have any questions, ask a cast member. They’re very helpful! If you’re a more advanced rider looking for an extra challenge on Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, check out the next section for some advanced strategies.
Strategies For Advanced Riders On Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
If you’re a seasoned Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters rider looking for an extra challenge, here are some advanced strategies to help you take your score to the next level.
- Memorize the location of high-value targets: One of the keys to achieving a high score is knowing where the high-value targets are located. By memorizing the location of these targets, you can aim for them quickly and efficiently.
- Learn the patterns of moving targets: Moving targets can be tricky to hit, but they also offer the potential for high points. Take some time to observe the patterns of the moving targets and learn when and where they are most vulnerable.
- Practice shooting while the car is spinning: As we mentioned earlier, rotating your vehicle can give you a better angle on targets. But shooting accurately while your car is spinning can also be tricky. Practice shooting while the vehicle is rotating to improve your accuracy.
- Master shooting with your non-dominant hand: Another way to increase your score is to master shooting with your non-dominant hand. This will allow you to shoot from different angles and hit targets that might have been out of reach before.
By incorporating these advanced strategies into your gameplay on Buzz Lightyear, you’ll be well on your way to achieving a high score and impressing your fellow riders. But remember, the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the ride!
