Bags and Backpacks At Disneyland

Hey, Disney enthusiasts! If you’re like me, planning a trip to the Disneyland theme parks involves a checklist longer than Goofy’s ears. But one burning question that has crossed my mind more than once is, “Can you bring bags or backpacks on rides at Disneyland?” I mean, we’ve all got our essentials – Mickey ears, snacks, autograph books – and I need to know if they’re ride-ready!

This is an excellent question. I’m glad you’re thinking ahead. The short answer? Drumroll, please… Yes! But, of course, with a sprinkle of pixie dust and a dash of Disney magic, there are a few things to keep in mind. Thankfully, the happiest place on earth allows bags of all sizes to accompany you on rides. It’s pretty great! Disneyland Park allows small bags, a fanny pack, a small backpack, or even a larger backpack on all their rides and attractions! There are some things you need to know, though.

Bags At Disneyland

Firstly, let me say that Disneyland is not the fashion runway – leave your Cinderella glass slippers at home. Comfort is key, and that includes carrying your essentials in a trusty bag or backpack. But before you start dreaming of a dazzling Disney catwalk, let’s dive into the nitty-gritty.

Picture this: you’re in line for the Matterhorn, the thrill building with every step, and suddenly, you’re faced with a dilemma – what to do with your bag? Fear not, my friends! All the rides at Disneyland have space for you to put your belongings on the ground at your feet. Even the roller coasters! This is the case in Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

Now, you will be asked to store all your loose items inside your bag or in the pouch provided on some rides. Some faster, twistier rides like Space Mountain and Incredicoaster can get a little wild. Trust me; they don’t want your Minnie ears flying off mid-loop-de-loop.

But what about the rides where you’re not just along for the ride – where you’re part of the show? I’m talking about those character meet-and-greets where you’re ready to snap a selfie with Mickey himself. Fear not, intrepid adventurer! You can bring your bags to those too. Just keep in mind that you might need to place them on the ground during the photo op, so maybe leave the royal red carpet at home.

Be Considerate

But hold your horses (or rather, hold your Carousel)! There’s one golden rule to remember – be considerate. We’re all in this together for the love of Disney, so if you’ve got a behemoth of a backpack that’s about to rival Sleeping Beauty’s castle, maybe save that for the hotel room. A small, manageable bag will make the experience smoother for everyone involved. You don’t want to be knocking people over with your giant bag!

Lockers At Disneyland

Now, sometimes you need to bring a lot of stuff, and it won’t all fit into your reasonably sized bag. What should you do? Disneyland has lockers that are available for you to use! There are small lockers and larger lockers, so you can choose the size that fits your needs. There are several locker locations. You can find two in the Esplanade before you enter the park. There’s also a locker location in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure at the front of the park. If you’re riding on Grizzly River Run and want to avoid bringing your bag with you, there are free lockers available for a short amount of time while you’re experiencing the attractions. Grizzly River Run is the only attraction that has locker rentals.

I love that Disneyland lets you bring your bags and even a large backpack or diaper bag into the ride vehicle with you. If you have any questions, ask a nearby cast member.

What To Pack In Your Park Bag

What should you pack in your Disney Park bag? I’ve got a post with tons of ideas. All of these items on the list are a result of personal experience. It includes hand sanitizer, chapstick, sunscreen, hair ties, refillable water bottles, and more! I’ve thought of everything, so check out the list. It’s the best way to be prepared!

Disneyland Bag Policy

Do keep in mind that whether you bring a small purse or a larger bag, you will need to abide by Disneyland’s bag policy. This policy states:

  • All persons, bags, parcels, clothing, and other items may be subject to screening/security checks.
  • We reserve the right not to allow any bag, parcel or other item and to deal with any unattended object, bag or luggage in such way as we consider appropriate.
  • Firearms, ammunition, knives, and weapons of any kind are prohibited.

So, all bags will be checked at a security checkpoint. Bag checks are required, and security will look through your personal belongings. It’s a good idea to only bring what you really think you need and will actually use.

So there you have it, fellow Disney dreamers – you can absolutely bring your bags or backpacks on rides at Disneyland. Just pack wisely, follow the rules, and get ready for a magical vacation without worrying about leaving your beloved essentials behind. Now, go forth and make memories – and maybe snag a churro or two on the way!
