You’re going on a Disney vacation! Hooray! This is exciting stuff. You probably have a ton of questions. Well, you’re in the right place. I’ve got lots of answers. Before we can start planning your epic Disney adventure, we need to make sure you have your Disney park tickets and reservations. Please don’t pay full price! Keep reading to find out how you can get a discount on your Disney park tickets.

Disney Park tickets and reservations are 2 separate things. If you’re visiting Disneyland, you’ll need both to enter the parks. If you’re visiting Disney World and have a date based ticket, reservations are no longer required. It sounds a bit complicated, but it’s really not and I’m going to walk you through everything you need to know about discounted Disney park tickets and reservations. You got this!

Let’s talk Disney park tickets! There are lots of different options to choose from and it can be a bit overwhelming, so let’s start there. Keep reading until the end to find out where I buy my discounted Disney park tickets. I never pay full price, and you shouldn’t either!

Park Hopper Tickets

A park hopper ticket means your ticket enables you to “hop” from one park to another. Essentially it means you can visit more than one park per day. Currently, you can only hop after 11am at Disneyland. You can hop anytime during park hours at Disney World. If you are visiting Disneyland, park hopping is a very easy process. You simply walk across the esplanade and you’re at the other park. It’s very simple and quick. At DisneyWorld, park hopping involves a bus, monorail or boat ride and can take a significant amount of time.

One Park Per Day Tickets

The one park per day ticket options requires you to stay in the same park for the entire day. No hopping allowed. Many people shy away from this ticket option, but it’s my favorite one. Mostly because it’s significantly cheaper and unless you visit the Disney parks frequently, there is really no need to hop. There’s so much to see and do in each park, you can easily spend your entire day in the same place.

How Many Disney Park Days Do You Need?

“How many days should I visit?” I get this question often when people are making their Disney park tickets and reservations plans. This really depends on you and your group. If you don’t visit very often, a longer visit might be perfect. If you go all the time, you can probably get away with a shorter visit. Disneyland offers 1- 5 day ticket options. Disney World has 1-10 day ticket options. The price per day decreases the more days you purchase. I always recommend going for as many days as you can. If this is your first visit, try a 3 day option to Disneyland or a 5 day package to Disney World.

Disneyland Park Reservations

Disneyland uses park reservations to control crowds, order food and to make sure they have enough cast members on hand to run the parks on any given day. The reservation system has been part of Disney’s reopening plan, after they parks were closed for the pandemic. I’ve found the reservation system to be incredibly helpful with limiting crowds and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s here to stay.

You can make your park reservations 120 days in advance. You will need your park ticket to make your reservation. If you buy your tickets through Disney you can do this 120 before your trip. You can make your park reservation at the same time as you purchase your ticket. You will get an email confirmation for each park reservation. Make sure you receive that so you know your reservation went through.

If you buy your tickets through my travel partners at Get Away Today(my recommendation for saving moneys!) you can purchase your tickets well in advance of your trip(layaway options available) and then you can make your park ticket reservation at the 120 day mark or as soon as you’re able.

You can make your reservations using the Disney app or the Disney website. You’ll just need your ticket number. An email confirmation for each park reservation will be sent to you immediately, so make sure you receive that so you know your reservation went through.

Booking Disney Vacations In Advance

I love getting my tickets through Get Away Today because I can buy my tickets in well in advance of my vacation!
