Disneyland Without Kids

Here are the very best reasons to visit Disneyland without kids!

1. Single Rider Line

The single rider line is such a timesaver! You’ll get to wait in line with your group, but when it’s time to board that attraction you’ll be split up to fill in the extra space. The single rider line is only available on certain attractions.

At Disneyland you can use single rider on Matterhorn Bobsleds, Splash Mountain and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

At California Adventure you can use the single rider line on Grizzly River Run, Incredicoaster, Goofy’s Sky School, Radiator Springs Racers and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.

2. Big Rides

Disneyland with adults means lots of big rides! You can ride Space Mountain, Indiana Jones Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad without deciding who’s going to wait with the little kids! Some of the best Disneyland rides have height requirements, but you won’t have to worry about that at all! Just enjoy the ride!

It’s not just the fun roller coaster and thrill rides you’ll be enjoying, you can also ride a dark ride or two that might scare your young kids. You can ride Haunted Mansion to your heart’s content!

3. Leisurely Meals

Disney parks are known for their delicious food, but when you’re visiting with your kids you don’t usually have time to enjoy much! When dining with your kids you usually select your meal based off of what your kids will like. Lots of mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. Guess what? When you visit Disneyland with adults you get to eat whatever you want! Bonus, you get to take your time!

I love a leisurely dinner at Blue Bayou or Carthay Circle. A little adult fine dining is good for the soul and is worth the extra cost if you’re visiting Disneyland with adults. Some of the best restaurants at the Disney theme parks require reservations! So, make sure you book a few before your trip. You can book dining reservations 60 days in advance.

If you’re looking for an adult beverage, Oga’s Cantina, Lamplight Lounge on Pixar Pier or Napa Rose are great options!

4. Stay Late

I don’t know about you, but my little kids need lots of sleep. So, when I have them with me at Disneyland, there’s a good chance we won’t be staying late. A full day at Disneyland wears them out quickly. Having grumpy kids the next day really isn’t worth keeping them up late.

But, when you’re visiting with adult Disney fans, you can stay as late as you like! Catch the late World of Color show or the Main Street Electrical Parade!

The very best part about staying late at Disneyland with adults: you only have yourself to put to bed when you get back to the hotel!

5. Be On Your Own Schedule

When you’re at Disneyland with Adults, you’re the boss. You can be on your own schedule and do whatever you want to do. You only have to make yourself happy. Want to ride Pirates of the Caribbean nine time in a row? Go for it! Do wait times feel long and you want a break in the Enchanted Tiki Room with a dole whip? Do it! Want to skip small world? That’s totally fine! You’re in the driver seat and it feel so good!

6. Maximize Genie Plus

Using Genie Plus is a great option for avoiding long lines and maximizing your time in the parks. If you’re visiting Disneyland with adults you can really use Genie Plus to make the most of your time at the Disneyland park. You’ll be able to move quickly and really put it to good use! You can find more info on Genie Plus here.

7. Take Time To Check Out The Entertainment

You can really slow down when you’re at Disneyland with adults and stop to see parades and favorite shows. Disneyland is not your normal amusement park! The entertainment is top notch and really fun if you’re interested! If you check out the entertainment without kids you really can sit back, relax and enjoy.

8. Eat Treats Without Sharing!

When I buy treats to share with my family, my kids wind up eating almost every bite! I’m lucky if I get one or two. But, when I’m at Disneyland without them, I can eat anything I want and have it all to myself! My favorite Disneyland treats are the raspberry rose macaron, cream cheese pretzels or dole whip floats. You can a post with my top Disneyland treats here.

9. Release Your Inner Child

There’s nothing quite as carefree as a child. When you’re at Disneyland with adults you can harness that young, carefree spirit and release your inner child! You won’t have a care in the world and you can live out daring adventures, romance and the magic that can only be found inside the Disneyland resort.

10. Bond With Friends And Family

Picture this: you’re hanging out with family and friends having actual conversations and you’re not interrupted once. It’s hard to imagine, right? Well, it’s possible. It’s so nice to bond with friends and family while you’re waiting in lines or over delicious meals. It’s so great for relationships to have some child free time to communicate!

11. Only Carry Your Own Stuff! No Stroller!

When you go to Disneyland with just adults you don’t have to haul anyone else’s stuff around. No strollers, diaper bags or extra snacks. It’s kind of a dream come true! Maybe a small backpack is all you need or a light fanny pack. Maybe you don’t need a bag at all. Your only responsible for yourself and it’s absolutely dreamy!

12. Spend Time Enjoying The Sights

Taking time at Disneyland to soak in the sights and sounds is such a relaxing experience. Maybe you take an hour to sit on a bench near the hub and people watch while you sip a soda. Or maybe you take a short break from rides to just stroll around the park and enjoy the atmosphere. Stopping to smell the roses is incredibly difficult with kids around, so enjoy the park to its fullest without them!

13. Enjoy Time Shopping

If your kids are like mine they last about 3 seconds inside a shop. When you’re visiting Disneyland with adults, you can browse to your hearts content! You can even skip the toy section altogether. I like to go into the fancy shops, you know the ones with all the glass and crystal? Only the bravest take children in those shops so, I often miss them. They’re full of wonderful things that are best looked at without little fingers around to touch them.

14. It’s Cheaper

Visiting Disneyland without kids is so much cheaper! Not only do you only have to pay for yourself, you save a bunch of money on airfare and souvenirs. Plus, paying for one or two adult meals inside the parks is very affordable when you compare it to paying for an entire family!

Remember, don’t pay full price for your park tickets! Get them at a discount here.

15. Enjoy Special Events

I love the special events held at the Disney parks. Lunar New Year and the Food & Wine Festival are my favorites. Kids don’t appreciate those types of things and aren’t interested in spending much time enjoying all there is to offer. When you go with just adults, you can take some time to really experience the special events Disney has to offer. They really are incredible!

16. No Crying Or Complaining

If you’re visiting Disneyland with adults only, you’ll most likely get through the day without a single person crying or complaining. No one will pee their pants either. What a great day! If you do cry, it will be from tears of joy or laughter while your watching other parents struggle with their young children.

17. Do What You Want To Do

You can do whatever you want. The day is yours. Want to sleep in and show up late to the parks? Do it! Want to eat only ice cream for the entire day? Do it! Feel like heading back to your hotel early for a nap before heading back to the parks for fireworks? Do it! You are on no ones schedule but your own. It’s a beautiful thing.

18. Skip The Kiddie Rides

Best Rides For Adults At Disneyland

I don’t know about you, but I don’t get much of a thrill from Autopia or King Arthur’s carousel. Maybe that’s just me. But, when you’re at Disneyland with adults, you can skip all the little rides and focus on the fun stuff! It’s the best! I do still enjoy Storybook Land Canal Boats. It’s a classic!

19. Skip The Characters

Do you feel like waiting in line for 30 minutes to meet Mickey Mouse? Probably not! When you’re at Disneyland with adults, you can totally skip over the characters completely if you want. Although, If the lines short I’m always up for a hug from one of my favorite characters.

20. Everybody’s Doing It

Have you had tons of friends or family visiting Disneyland without kids? Have you noticed lots of people on social media visiting Disneyland with just adults? It seems like everybody’s is doing it. There’s a reason! It’s because it’s amazing. All these people can’t be wrong, right? So, if you’re looking for a sign from the universe that you need an adult only trip to Disneyland, this is it. Take the trip!

Hopefully, this convinces you that Disneyland with adults is a great idea! Grab your best friends or partner and book a trip now! You won’t regret it!
