Are you celebrating Lunar New Year at the Disneyland resort in 2023? Lucky you! It’s such a fun time to visit. You’re going to have the best time! The Lunar New Year Celebration in California Adventure begins January 20th and runs through February 15th. The Lunar New Year celebration is a fan favorite. This multicultural celebration is filled with auspicious wishes for health, luck, and prosperity throughout the Year of the Rabbit.
This amazing celebration is held in Disney California Adventure Park and pays tribute to tribute to Chinese, Koren, and Vietnamese cultures.

Lunar New Year at Disneyland Events
There’s so much to see and do during Lunar New Year at Disneyland. Make sure you take some time to enjoy it all! Here’s what you can expect.
Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession
This festive, bright musical procession honors family, friendship, and good wishes for a wonderful new year. Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession fills the street with exciting music, exquisite costumes, and traditional dances by Asian performing troupes.
Disney pals join the procession during the Year of the Rabbit, while Mulan and Mushu arrive on a breathtaking float featuring traditional drummers. Discover a magnificent Chinese dragon making its way along the route as umbrella and fan dancers perform their delicate dances. Guests of all ages will delight in this cultural and unifying experience of sights, sounds, and colors that lift the heart.
The parade route runs from the Pixar Pier Gate to Paradise Gardens Obelisk and back. It happens multiple times throughout the day. Expect show times daily at 1:30 pm, 2:45 pm, 4:45 pm, 5:45 pm, and 7:00 pm. Times are subject to change(check the Disneyland app for show times). Plan on arriving about 15 minutes before show time to get a good spot.
Hurry Home
Hurry Home is a sweet 6-minute pre-show to World Of Color that features the tale of a Little Lantern on a journey to return home for the annual celebration of good luck and fortune.
Live Entertainment
Enjoy live entertainment during Lunar New Year at Disneyland. Paradise Gardens Park Bandstand will present daily performances to welcome the Year of the Tiger and attract good luck and prosperity for the new year. Relax in the shade and enjoy music from gifted performers while they perform a fusion of Chinese folk, classical and contemporary instrumentals Check the Disneyland app for show times.
Lunar New Year at Disneyland Food
If yummy food is on your “to-do list” it’s easy to find during Lunar New Year at Disneyland! Plan on trying lots of special lunar new year-inspired food! I tried so many yummy things when I was visiting! You might have a hard time narrowing it down. I suggest splitting as much as you can with a friend so you can try more! There are lots of dining locations, so pace yourself!
Sip and Savor Pass
Use a sip and savor pass to sample Asian-inspired food and beverages from the new Lunar New Year Marketplaces! Expect to find lots of delicious Asian cuisine with a Disney twist at food booths in the Paradise Garden area. You don’t have to purchase the Sip and Savor pass to enjoy the Marketplaces, you can also purchase items individually. You can find out more info on the Sip and Savor Pass here.
Hot Tip: Lines get long to purchase kiosk food items during Lunar New Year at Disneyland. You can actually avoid the long lines by purchasing all of your food at one kiosk. Just print out my free printable foodie guide. Circle the items you want to try.
When you arrive, find the kiosk with the shortest line. Purchase all of your food items at this kiosk. SAVE YOUR RECEIPT! That’s very important. Then, you can go to the pickup lines at the kiosks you purchased from any time that day to pick up your food. You can skip the order lines completely since you’ve already paid for your items! You’ll just need to show the cast member your receipt when picking up your food.

Paradise Garden Grill
Paradise Garden Grill will also be open and offering delicious Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese-derived delicacies. Open for lunch and dinner. Stop by to enjoy a multicultural menu full of traditional foods, treat and yummy drinks! Mobile ordering is available. Take advantage of it!
Disney Characters
Celebrate the year of the Rabbit with Disney friends! You can find Disney characters at Paradise Garden Gazebo. Mulan and her friend Mushu will make special appearances there as well. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and the three little pigs will be visiting the Gazebo dressed in their festive attire! Don’t miss them!
Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon is joining the Lunar New Year at Disneyland celebration this year! You can find her in the heart of Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. She’s available from 2:00 pm-9:00 pm (times subject to change, check the Disneyland app for updated times).
Lucky Wishes Wall
Stop by the Lucky Wishes Wall to reflect on the past and welcome in a New year full of good fortune! Guests of all ages are invited to add their own special message of hope, health, and happiness for the upcoming year to the lucky wishing wall.

Lunar New Year at Disneyland has so much to offer! Don’t miss the kid-friendly crafts and activities that are available. Festive decor and photo opportunities will be available, so have your camera ready. Of course, Disney will also have lots of fun, commemorative merchandise available for purchase as part of the Lunar New Year Celebration.
