MagicBands are now at the Disneyland Resort! Disney MagicBands have been a staple for guests at the Walt Disney World Resort, but this will be the first time they have ever been offered at the Disneyland Parks. In this post, I’ll be talking all about MagicBands at Disneyland! I’ll explain what they do and how to use them so you can decide if you’re going to utilize them on your next Disneyland vacation. I’m excited about this new technology making its way to Disneyland!
Sharing Disneyland planning tips, park history, the storytelling behind Disney attractions and my latest Disney adventures!
In this episode, I give a full review of the new Walt’s Main Street Story Tour at Disneyland! I went on the tour last week and I’ve got opinions! Plus, I’m joined by my friend Shantelle(Disneyland Tour Guide) to talk about Magic Bands+ at Disneyland. We got to try them out last week on our visit to Disneyland. So, we chat about what they can do, how much they cost, and if we feel like they’re worth the price.

What is MagicBand?
The New MagicBand is finally coming to Disneyland! Walt DisneyWorld is home to the original magicband, but only the new MagicBand+ will be available at Disneyland. MagicBand is a wearable device that’s designed to enhance your Disney vacation experience and provide new interactive experiences. The MagicBand is a wristband that you wear during your Disney Park day. You’ll be able to wear these waterproof wristbands to the parks and use them in various ways to make parts of your vacation more convenient, a little simpler, and a lot more magical.
What Can A MagicBand at Disneyland do?
Let’s take a look at what you can expect from your MagicBand at Disneyland. Disneyland’s MagicBand will work at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. After you purchase one, you’ll be able to easily activate it using your “My Disney Experience Account”. Make sure you set up your Disney account before you arrive at the parks so you’ll be ready to go.
Enter The Park
Disneyland Park guests will be able to use their MagicBands to scan into the parks! No more searching through the Disneyland app for your digital ticket or rummaging through your wallet looking for what you need. The cast member at the ticket gate will just scan your MagicBand and you’ll be on your way!
Check In To Lightning Lanes
Instead of scanning your park tickets or Disneyland app when you’re checking into your Lightning Lane reservations, you can simply tap your magic band to access the line. This will save time and you won’t have to search all over the app looking for your Lightning Lane reservation. You can find more information about Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass Lightning Lanes here.
Link To PhotoPass
MagicBands conveniently link to your Disney Photopass! Your Disneyland photographer will be able to quickly and easily scan your MagicBand after you have your pictures taken. A little while later, your photos will show up on your Disneyland app.
Enhance Nighttime Entertainment
The new MagicBands at Disneyland are designed to enhance your nighttime entertainment experience. While viewing select shows like World of Color, Fantasmic!, and other select nighttime shows, your MagicBand will come to life pulsing with colorful, dancing, color-changing lights, and haptic vibrations!
Interactive Quest
You’ll be able to explore Galaxy’s Edge in a whole new way with your Disneyland MagicBand! Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive quest is available exclusively for guests with MagicBands. Here’s more info from Disneyland:
“Vibrations and lights from your MagicBand will help guide you to find virtual bounties across Black Spire Outpost. When you find your bounty, you can use the augmented reality thermal viewer in the Play Disney Parks app** to reveal who’s hiding in the shadows. Once your mission is successfully completed, local guild master Raga Bua will reward you with galactic credits.”
Disney Parks Blog
This is just the beginning! MagicBands at Disneyland will be pretty simple when they first launch, but they will soon have more features added to them. In Walt DisneyWorld, MagicBands can be used as hotel room keys(for Disney resort hotel guests). On-property guests can also link a credit card to them and use them to pay for purchases. I’m guessing we’ll be seeing some of these same features for guests staying at Disneyland Resort Hotels in the near future.
Fun Designs/Colors/Features
MagicBands at Disneyland will come in a variety of colors and fun designs! You’re sure to find the perfect one for you. All MagicBands are waterproof and size adjustable. They are rechargeable and come with a charging cable. When your MagicBand is paired to your smart devices through the Disneyland App, it unlocks personalization options such as selecting unique light colors and adjusting the vibration and motion recognition settings.
How Much Do MagicBands Cost?
The cost of MagicBands at Disneyland has not been released yet but at Walt DisneyWorld the MagicBands+ cost anywhere from $35.99-$45.99. I’m assuming the cost will be the same for MagicBands at Disneyland.
Where To Buy
Disneyland’s MagicBand will be for sale all over the Disneyland resort retail locations as soon as they are available at Disneyland. You’ll also be able to find them on ShopDisney if you’d like to purchase them before your Disneyland vacation.
Are MagicBands At Disneyland Worth It?
Are MagicBands at Disneyland worth the extra cost? This is a tough question to answer because everyone values things differently. If you are interested in ease, convenience, and adding a little extra fun to your Disneyland vacation, then MagicBands might be perfect for you! They are a great way to enhance the guest experience. That being said, although this wearable technology is cool, you don’t need to have it to have a good experience on your Disneyland vacation. So, maybe you’d rather save the money on MagicBands and put it toward something else on your vacation like Genei Plus or a fun dining package. Whatever you decide to do will be great!
If you’re on the fence about buying MagicBands, you might want to wait until you arrive at the Disneyland Resort and watch them in action. Then, you can decide if they are right for you and your family members. I’ve used them frequently at DisneyWorld and they are great! But, I’ve also gone to DisneyWorld without MagicBands and still have an amazing time.
These new MagicBands at Disneyland are an easy way to add some extra convenience to your vacation, but they are not necessary for Disneyland visitors to have a great time.
Hopefully, this information on MagicBands at Disneyland has been helpful for you! I’m excited for them to finally arrive at the Disney theme park in California. I think they will be a great addition to the resort and a nice option for some families. I am looking forward to the new features coming in the future to MagicBands at Disneyland. I think eventually they will be a really fun and valuable tool for guests staying on property at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels. I will keep this page updated as we get more and new information at MagicBands at Disneyland!
