Rice Krispie Treats are my husbands very favorite treat. He requests them for every birthday and each Father’s day. So, of course I needed to come up with a recipe for the very best Rice Krispie Treats. It took me awhile to come up with the perfect ratio of butter to marshmallows to cereal but, I finally figured it out! I add a few extra marshmallows at the end to add a little something extra. It makes them look even more appetizing and takes the flavor over the top!

Years ago my friend called me in a panic because she’d been asked to make 9 pans of Rice Krispie Treats for a big event. She’d never been able to make a decent Rice Krispie Treat. Her creations always turned out dry and hard. So, obviously she was stressed. There was no way she was going to show up to this big, important event with sub par treats!

I invited her over and shared my easy Rice Krispie Treats recipe with her and helped her make all 9 pans. They turned out amazing and she was surprised by how easy it actually is to make gooey rice krispie treats! Now, she uses this recipe all the time and is a Rice Krispie Treat pro!

Rice Krispie Treats Ingredients

I used a 9 x 13 pan for my Rice Krispie Treats. You can use a smaller pan if you’d like them to be super thick. I love this 9 x 13 pan because it comes with a lid! I can just cover them up when I’m done with them and the lid keeps them nice and fresh for a few days.

  • 4 Tablespoons Butter(plus a bit more to grease the pan)
  • 1 Package Mini Marshmallows(10oz)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • 6 Cups Rice Krispie Treats

Rice Krispie Treats Directions

  1. Use a little bit of butter to grease a 9 x 13 pan.
  2. Melt 4 Tablespoons of butter in a large pot over medium-low heat.
  3. Once melted, add 4 cups mini marshmallows.
  4. Stir until marshmallows are just melted. Remove from heat immediately. If you over cook the marshmallow mixture your Rice Krispie Treats will dry.
  5. Stir in Vanilla.
  6. Add 6 cups Rice Krispies. Stir until combined
  7. Add the rest of the marshmallows and stir until they are just barely starting to melt.
  8. Press the cereal mixture into a buttered 9 x 13 pan. I put my hand inside a ziplock baggie and use it to easily press the mixture into the pan.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes, cut and enjoy!
