When Is Spring Break at Disneyland?

Spring Break crowds typically begin in early-March and last through mid-April, peaking around Easter weekend. Since school schedules vary, crowd levels fluctuate throughout this period. If you’re looking for the least crowded days, consider visiting in early March before the rush begins or later in April after most schools return to session.

For a detailed look at expected crowd levels, check out my Disneyland Crowd Calendar to help you choose the best dates for your visit.

What to Expect During Spring Break at Disneyland

1. Larger Crowds

Spring Break at Disneyland is one of the busiest times of the year, so be prepared for long lines at attractions, restaurants, and even security checkpoints. The good news? The parks extend their hours, so you’ll have more time to experience everything Disneyland has to offer. Don’t let crowds scare you! You can still have a great time, even when it’s crowded. Check out my post about dealing with crowds at Disneyland for more helpful tips.

2. Extended Park Hours

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure typically open earlier and close later during Spring Break, giving you extra time to explore. Take advantage of early mornings and late nights when crowd levels are lower.

3. Beautiful Spring Weather

Springtime in Southern California means mild temperatures, usually ranging from the mid-60s to low 80s. However, mornings and evenings can be cool, so it’s best to dress in layers to stay comfortable throughout the day.

4. Special Springtime Entertainment

Disney limited-time entertainment during the season. Be on the lookout for special Disneyland travel offerings, including Fantasmic! dining packages and seasonal treats.

Top Tips for Dealing with Spring Break Crowds

1. Arrive Early & Take Advantage of Rope Drop

The best way to beat the crowds is to arrive at the park gates at least 30-45 minutes before opening. The first few hours of the day offer the shortest wait times, making it the perfect time to ride high-demand attractions like Space Mountain and Indiana Jones Adventure. Arriving early(rope dropping) can make all the difference in your day! Check out my post on rope dropping at Disneyland for more info.

2. Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is your best friend during Disneyland Spring break! Purchase it early in the day to reserve Lightning Lane access to top attractions, saving you hours of waiting in line. Lighting Lane Multip Pass can save you a lot of time, but you do need to know how to use it effectively! Check out my post on using Lightning Lane Multi Pass for more info.

3. Mobile Order Food in Advance

With thousands of guests dining at the same time, food lines can be long. Use mobile ordering on the Disneyland app to schedule your meals ahead of time and avoid unnecessary waits.

4. Plan Around Parades & Fireworks

Use parade and nighttime showtimes to your advantage! Many guests will line up early for these events, which means ride wait times tend to drop significantly during these periods.

5. Take a Midday Break

Midday crowds can be overwhelming, especially for families with kids. Consider taking a break at your hotel or at Downtown Disney to get away from the crowds for a bit.

6. Stay Late for Shorter Wait Times

After the fireworks, many families with young kids leave the parks, making the final hours of the day an ideal time to experience popular attractions with shorter waits.
