Discount Disneyland Packages

If you’re visiting Disneyland right now, you might be wondering if you can upgrade your current Disneyland park ticket to a Disneyland Park hopper ticket? Maybe you’re thinking that you could make better use of your time if you had park hopper tickets. Or, you’ve just found out about an after-hours event that is closing down one of the parks early and you’d like to hop over to the second park to continue your Disneyland fun. Whatever the reason, I’ve got the answer for you.

Upgrading Your Disneyland Park Ticket

Yes, you can upgrade your single park per day to a park hopper once you are at Disneyland. You’re not able to upgrade your ticket via the Disneyland app or online before your visit. So, if you decide you’d like to upgrade your single day tickets you can on the day of your visit. To upgrade to a park hopper, you need to speak with a cast member at the Disneyland Resort Main Entrance Ticket Booth. You can find the ticket booth in the esplanade in between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park.

Just go to the ticket window and see if they can help you with your Disney tickets. If there are still hopper reservations available you’ll be able to upgrade to a ticket type of greater value and pay the price difference.

This is the only way to upgrade your single-day ticket to a park hopper. Park hopping is only allowed after 1 pm. Because a theme park ticket and theme park reservation are both required to enter all the Disney parks, there’s a small chance that all of the park hopper reservations will be full. If this is the case, you will not be able to park hop and will have to stick to your single park for the day.

Make sure you visit the ticket booth earlier in the day on the first day of your visit if you’re wanting to hop so you can make sure that reservations are still available.

Why I Don’t Buy Park Hoppers

I actually don’t recommend park hoping to most people. There’s so much to see and do at each park! I can easily spend a couple of days at Disneyland and a couple of days at California Adventure without park-hopping and have a wonderful time. I don’t feel like the extra cost to park hop is worth it for most people. So, even if you’re not able to upgrade to a park hopper option, don’t stress. You can still have a great time at the happiest place on earth without hopping!

I do recommend a multi-day ticket to everyone over a 1-day ticket. The Disney theme parks have so much to offer! You’ll never regret having an additional day(or a bunch of extra days) to spend enjoying the parks.

Disney Genie Plus

Disney Genie Plus at Disneyland

If you’re looking to maximize your time in the park, you might want to consider using Disney Genie Plus. This is the new system that’s replaced the old Fastpass/max pass system. Genie plus costs an additional $20 per person per day, but can really save you a bunch of time waiting in long lines! It also includes photo pass, which is pretty cool. For more information on Genie Plus, check out my post here. It’s got tons of helpful information and tips that you’ll want to know when using Genie Plus.

Rope Dropping At Disneyland

Another way to really maximize your time is to rope drop. Rope drop means you arrive at the park first thing in the morning before the park even opens. Disney will start letting people into the parks about 30 minutes before the park officially opens. This means you’ll be able to line up at the “rope” and be among the very first guests in the park! The first hour after park opening has really low wait times. So, while everyone else is just eating breakfast, you’ll be riding on Big Thunder Mountain 5 times in a row with barely a wait! It’s pretty great. I have a full guide to rope dropping at Disneyland that you’ll want to check out. It’s filled with tons of tips and helpful information.

Disneyland Mobile App

Using the Disneyland mobile app will also be really helpful for you. You can use the app to check wait times, find characters, book your Genie Plus lighting lanes, and even mobile order your food! It’s such a helpful little tool. Make sure you are taking advantage of it! You can download the app and sign in using your Disney account. Then all of your ticket information, credit card info, and park reservations will be stored on the app so you can easily use it on your visit.
