Visiting Disneyland While Pregnant

1. Talk to Your Doctor First (Seriously!)

I know, I know… it’s the advice we always hear, but it’s important! Before booking those tickets, chat with your doctor. They’ll help you figure out what’s safe for you based on how far along you are. There might be some travel restrictions to consider, and if you’re like me and prone to swelling after walking for a while, you’ll want to get all the medical green lights before heading to the park.

2. Pack Like a Pro

When I say “prepare,” I mean bring ALL the essentials! You know your body better than anyone, and pregnancy comes with its own special needs, so here’s what you should pack:

  • Water bottle: Hydration is your best friend. Fill up throughout the day at the water fountains around the park.
  • Comfortable shoes: Trust me, cute sandals are NOT worth the blisters. I lived in my sneakers.
  • Healthy snacks: Pack some easy-to-eat bites like nuts or granola bars to keep your energy up.
  • Sunscreen and hats: Pregnancy can make your skin more sensitive, so don’t forget to protect yourself from the sun!
  • Cooling towels: Throw one in your bag—you’ll thank me after standing in the sun for a bit.
  • Support belt: If you’re feeling extra belly-heavy, a maternity belt might help distribute the weight and make walking around a lot easier.

3. Know What Rides to Avoid

Okay, let’s get real—there are some rides you’re going to want to skip while pregnant, even if you’re the thrill-seeker type. Anything super jerky or fast is a no-go. Here are the big ones to avoid:

  • Indiana Jones Adventure (as much as we love it)
  • Space Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Matterhorn Bobsleds
  • Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

But don’t worry! There are SO many fun and relaxing rides still on the table (more on that later).

4. Pregnancy-Friendly Rides You’ll Love

Here’s where the magic happens! Disneyland has a ton of attractions that are chill enough for you and the little one. Some of my favorites (and the ones I didn’t have to think twice about riding while pregnant) are:

  • It’s a Small World (a classic and perfect for sitting back and enjoying the air conditioning!)
  • Pirates of the Caribbean (just the right amount of excitement)
  • Jungle Cruise (you’ll love the bad jokes even more when you’re sitting down)
  • Haunted Mansion (spooky, but not too spooky!)
  • The Disneyland Railroad (a nice way to get off your feet and still see the park)

And of course, you can always enjoy the parades, shows, and fireworks without lifting a finger. It’s all about finding balance!

5. Take Breaks. A Lot of Them.

Your body is working overtime, so make sure you take breaks. Find those shady spots (Main Street has great benches!) or cool down with a float on the Mark Twain Riverboat. And if you really need to chill out, head to the Baby Care Center. It’s air-conditioned and has comfy seats—no baby required to rest your feet there!

6. Hydrate and Eat, Girl!

Staying hydrated and fed is extra important while you’re pregnant, so don’t skimp on the water (seriously, drink more than you think you need). And as far as food goes, you’re in for a treat. Disneyland has some awesome pregnancy-friendly snacks:

  • Dole Whip (cool and refreshing)
  • Fresh fruit from carts all around the park
  • Grilled veggie skewers from Bengal Barbecue
  • A hearty meal at Plaza Inn or Café Orleans (because you deserve it!)

7. Scooters or Wheelchairs are Your Friend

If walking starts to feel like a marathon, don’t hesitate to rent a scooter or wheelchair. I know, I was hesitant at first too, but it makes a world of difference. Trust me, the last thing you want is to overdo it when you’re visiting Disneyland while pregnant. Don’t miss out on the fun because your feet are killing you.

8. Download the Disneyland App

If you’re not already using the Disneyland app, now’s the time. You can check wait times, mobile order food (yes, please), and even locate the nearest restrooms (because let’s be real, you’ll need them). Plus, it helps avoid standing in long lines in the sun!

9. Capture the Memories with PhotoPass

Since you’re growing a little Disney fan, make sure you take advantage of PhotoPass! It’s so easy to just get photos done professionally and have them all saved digitally for you. These pictures will be such a fun memory later on, and you won’t have to fuss about capturing the perfect shot yourself. PhotoPass is included with Lightning Lane Multipass.

10. Timing is Everything

I’d recommend visiting Disneyland while pregnant during the off-peak season (if possible), and definitely try to arrive early or stay later to avoid the midday crowds and heat. Plus, the cooler weather in the mornings and evenings is a lifesaver. Trust me, it makes a huge difference. Check out my post about when to visit Disneyland for crowd calendars!

11. Restrooms—Know Where They Are

Look, when you’re pregnant, bathrooms become a priority! Thankfully, Disneyland has them in almost every land, and the Disneyland app makes it super easy to find the closest one. No panicking necessary!

12. Don’t Forget to Have Fun!

At the end of the day, the most important thing is to enjoy yourself! Disneyland is all about the magic, and you deserve to have a great time, even if you’re moving a bit slower or skipping some rides. Take in the sights, smells (hello churros!), and fun. You’re making memories for yourself and your baby!
