Yes, Disneyland is absolutely worth visiting in the summer, especially if that is when your family can go.

Will it be crowded? Probably.

Will it be hot? Very likely.

Will you still have a magical vacation? Absolutely.

Summer at Disneyland often comes with longer park hours, more entertainment, nighttime shows, seasonal food, and plenty of energy throughout the resort. It’s also a great time for families because kids are out of school and there are more opportunities to stay late, take midday breaks, and enjoy the parks at a slower pace.

For 2026, summer is an especially fun time to visit because Disneyland’s 70th Celebration is still happening through August 9, 2026. That means special entertainment, anniversary decorations, themed food, merchandise, and more celebration offerings around the resort.

The best ways to handle summer crowds are to arrive early, use Lightning Lane Multi Pass when it makes sense, avoid wasting the first hour of the day in the longest lines, take a midday break, mobile order meals, and save some of your lower-priority rides or shows for the hottest part of the afternoon.

Summer crowds can also depend on when you visit. Holiday weekends, the Fourth of July, and the weeks when more schools are out can feel busier. But even on crowded days, you can still have a great time if you know what to expect.

June is usually more manageable, but July, August, and September can bring some very warm days. Even when the mornings and evenings feel nice, the afternoon heat can be a lot, especially if you’re standing in long outdoor lines or pushing kids too hard without breaks.

The best way to handle the heat is to plan your day around it. Rope drop in the morning, take a break during the hottest part of the afternoon, and come back in the evening when the parks feel more comfortable.

Bring a refillable water bottle, cooling towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a portable fan. You can also get free cups of ice water at quick-service dining locations, which is one of my favorite simple Disneyland hacks.

Disneyland currently requires both valid park admission and a theme park reservation. Before your trip, make sure your tickets are purchased and your starting park is reserved for each day.

Hotels near Disneyland are very popular during the summer and can book up quickly, especially hotels within walking distance. The earlier you book, the more options you’ll have, and options are always a good thing.

When choosing a hotel, make sure you compare more than just the nightly price. Look at the location, parking fees, breakfast, room size, pool area, walkability, and how easy it will be to take a midday break.

You’ll usually save the most when you bundle your hotel and Disneyland tickets together in a vacation package.

Make Dining Reservations

Disneyland has lots of dining options, from quick-service restaurants to table-service dining. But popular restaurants can fill up quickly, especially during busy summer months.

Dining reservations open up to 60 days in advance. If you want restaurants like Blue Bayou, Lamplight Lounge, character dining, or other table-service meals, set a reminder and try to book early.

If you don’t get the reservation you want right away, don’t panic. People cancel all the time, especially as their trip gets closer. Keep checking the Disneyland app, and you may be able to grab something later.

If you need help finding hard-to-get dining reservations, I recommend Mouse Dining. You tell them the date, time, and restaurant you’re looking for, and they’ll notify you when a reservation becomes available.

Also, you don’t need table service resturants to get good meals at Disneyland. There’s a ton of quick service dining options and most of them have mobile ordering, which is such a time saver!

Get Familiar With the Disneyland App

The Disneyland app is one of the most important tools for your trip.

Before your vacation, download the app and spend a little time exploring it. You’ll use it to check wait times, mobile order food, look at entertainment schedules, view park maps, book Lightning Lane return times, manage your tickets, and more.

The more comfortable you are with the app before your trip, the easier your park days will feel.

Choose the Right Dates

When planning your visit to Disneyland in the summer, choosing the right dates can make a big difference.

Disneyland is crowded. Disneyland in the summer is even more crowded. But you can still have a great time.

The least crowded day to visit Disneyland right now is often Sunday, which surprises a lot of people. Everyone assumes weekends will be terrible, so they plan their trips for weekdays instead. Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays can often feel busier.

That doesn’t mean Sunday will always be empty. It won’t. But it can be a good option if you’re trying to pick the best day for crowds.

If possible, try to avoid major holidays like the Fourth of July. Holiday weekends usually bring bigger crowds, higher hotel prices, and a more intense park atmosphere.

That said, don’t stress too much if your travel dates are already set. You can still have a wonderful trip. You’ll just want to go in with realistic expectations and a solid plan.

Beat the Heat

Hot weather is just part of visiting Disneyland in the summer, but there are lots of things you can do to stay more comfortable.

Dress Comfortably

Wear lightweight, breathable clothing. Loose-fitting, light-colored outfits are great for hot days.

Comfortable shoes are also a must. Disneyland involves a lot of walking, and hot feet plus uncomfortable shoes is not a magical combination.

I also recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Some people even like to bring a small umbrella for extra shade. You may feel a little silly until you’re standing in the sun and everyone else wishes they had one too.

Stay Hydrated

Bring a refillable water bottle and drink more water than you think you need.

You can refill water bottles throughout the parks, and you can also ask for free cups of ice water at quick-service dining locations. This is one of the easiest ways to stay cool without spending extra money.

You can also buy cold drinks throughout the parks, but bringing your own water bottle will save you a lot over the course of your trip.

Use Air-Conditioned Attractions and Restaurants

Disneyland has several indoor attractions, shows, shops, and restaurants where you can take a break from the heat.

At Disneyland Park, attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world,” Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and Enchanted Tiki Room can be great options when you need to cool off.

At Disney California Adventure, Animation Academy, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!, and indoor dining locations can give you a much-needed break from the sun.

Sometimes a little air conditioning can save the whole day.

Take a Midday Break

One of my favorite summer Disneyland tips is to take a break during the hottest part of the day.

This is usually when crowds are highest, lines are longest, and everyone starts to get tired. Instead of pushing through and making everyone miserable, consider heading back to your hotel for a nap, swim, shower, or quiet time.

If you don’t want to leave the parks, you can still take a break. Ride the Disneyland Railroad, watch a show, explore shops, grab a snack in the shade, or find a quiet corner to rest.

A good break can make it possible to come back in the evening feeling like a whole new person.

Bring a Fan and Cooling Towels

A portable fan and cooling towels can make a huge difference during a summer Disneyland trip.

You can buy these things inside the parks, but they will usually cost more. I recommend ordering them before your trip and packing them in your park bag.

Cooling towels are especially helpful for kids. Wet them, wring them out, and put them around your neck for a quick cool-down.

Arrive Early

If you want to make the most of your Disneyland summer trip, arrive early.

Getting to the parks before they officially open gives you a big advantage. You’ll be able to ride several attractions with shorter waits before the crowds and heat build up.

This is often called rope dropping, and it can be one of the best strategies for a busy summer day.

Arrive 45-60 minutes early. Disneyland usually lets guests through the gates before the official park opening time. Guests can enter Main Street, U.S.A. and wait for the ropes to drop into the lands.

I recommend arriving 45 to 60 minutes before park opening if you want to be near the front and make the most of your morning.

That may sound early, but it is worth it. The first hour of the day is incredibly valuable.

By arriving early, you can enjoy shorter wait times, cooler temperatures, and a calmer start to the day.

Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass

If you’re visiting Disneyland in the summer, Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be a huge help.

Summer lines can get long, especially in the middle of the day. Lightning Lane Multi Pass lets you book return times for select attractions through the Disneyland app and use the Lightning Lane entrance instead of waiting in the regular standby line.

It is an additional cost, so it’s not required. But for many families, especially during busy summer trips, it can save a lot of time and make the day feel less stressful.

Just remember that not every attraction is included with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Some attractions may use Lightning Lane Single Pass instead. At Disneyland Resort, Radiator Springs Racers is a Single Pass attraction at Disney California Adventure, which means it is not included with regular Multi Pass.

Have a Strategic Ride Plan

When visiting Disneyland in the summer, you do not want to wander around randomly and hope for the best.

That is how you end up walking back and forth across the park in the heat, waiting in long lines, and wondering why everyone else seems to be getting more done.

You need a plan.

Start With Popular Attractions Early

The morning is the best time to ride popular attractions with lower wait times.

At Disneyland Park, good early morning options can include Indiana Jones Adventure, Space Mountain, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, or other popular attractions depending on your priorities.

At Disney California Adventure, good early morning options can include Guardians of the Galaxy, WEB SLINGERS, Toy Story Midway Mania, Soarin’, or Pixar Pal-A-Round if that’s important to your group.

The key is to start with rides that build long lines quickly, but not necessarily the rides that everyone rushes to first.

Do Not Waste Your Morning in the Wrong Lines

Please don’t head straight to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Peter Pan’s Flight, or Radiator Springs Racers first thing in the morning.

Everyone rushes to those attractions, which means the lines are often long right away. You can waste some of the most valuable time of your day standing in a line that may not actually be saving you much time.

Instead, use those early morning hours for attractions with shorter waits and faster-moving lines. You can come back to those headliner attractions later with a better strategy.

Use the Disneyland App for Wait Times

The Disneyland app is your best friend when it comes to checking wait times.

Use it throughout the day to decide where to go next. Sometimes a ride that had a long wait earlier will suddenly drop. Other times, an attraction nearby may have a shorter line than expected.

Don’t just follow your original plan blindly. Use the app to adjust as the day goes on.

Use a Touring Plan

These touring plans are designed to help you skip long lines, avoid unnecessary walking, and take the stress out of your Disney day.

They are especially helpful for summer visits when crowds and heat can make the day feel a little more intense.

Take Breaks

Taking breaks is one of the most important parts of a successful Disneyland summer trip.

I know it can be tempting to try to do everything. You spent a lot of money. You want to make the most of your day. I get it.

But pushing too hard can backfire fast, especially in the heat.

Disneyland is exciting, but it is also exhausting. You’ll be walking a lot, standing in lines, navigating crowds, and dealing with the sun. Plan breaks before everyone hits the meltdown stage.

Sit down for a snack. Find a shady spot. Watch a show. Ride something slow and air-conditioned. Head back to your hotel if you’re staying close by. Whatever works for your family.

A break is not wasted time. A break can save the rest of the day.

Shows, parades, cavalcades, character experiences, and entertainment can also be a great way to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere of the parks. If you’re visiting during Disneyland’s 70th Celebration, make sure to check the entertainment schedule in the Disneyland app so you don’t miss any special offerings.

Enjoy the Water Attractions

One of the best ways to cool off at Disneyland in the summer is to plan for the water rides.

At Disneyland Park, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a great option when the weather is hot. It has fun music, beautiful details, a big drop, and yes, you may get wet.

Over at Disney California Adventure, Grizzly River Run is the ultimate summer water ride. It’s fun, refreshing, and sometimes absolutely soaking.

If you don’t want to walk around in wet shoes all day, bring sandals or flip-flops to change into, or pack an extra pair of socks.

A few quick tips:

Bring a poncho if you want to stay mostly dry.

Use a waterproof bag for phones and valuables.

Grizzly River Run has lockers nearby, which can be really helpful.

If your kids love getting soaked, this can be a perfect afternoon activity when the heat is at its worst.

And if you hate being wet, maybe just send everyone else on while you hold the bags. No judgment here.

Enjoy the Evening Entertainment

Summer nights are one of the best parts of visiting Disneyland.

After a hot, crowded afternoon, the parks start to feel magical again in the evening. The temperature drops, the lights come on, and Disneyland’s nighttime entertainment makes the whole day feel worth it.

For summer 2026, Disneyland’s 70th Celebration brings extra entertainment to the resort, including offerings like Paint the Night, Wondrous Journeys, World of Color Happiness!, and other anniversary experiences.

Entertainment schedules can change, so always check the Disneyland app on the day of your visit. Showtimes, fireworks, parades, and nighttime spectaculars may vary by date, and fireworks are always subject to weather.

If nighttime entertainment is a priority, plan your dinner and rides around it. Viewing areas can fill up early, especially for popular shows, so don’t wait until the last minute if you care about having a great spot.

Stay Near the Park

Where you stay can make a big difference during a summer Disneyland trip.

When it’s hot and crowded, being close to the parks is incredibly helpful. It makes it much easier to take a midday break, go back for a nap, swim during the afternoon, change clothes, or let everyone reset before heading back for the evening.

This is especially important in the summer. The hottest and busiest part of the day is usually the afternoon, so having a hotel close enough to walk back to can be a game changer.

Disneyland Resort Hotels

Staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel can be a magical experience. You’re surrounded by Disney theming, close to the parks, and fully immersed in the Disney bubble.

Disneyland Resort Hotels are usually more expensive, but they are convenient and fun, especially if you want that full Disney vacation feeling.

Nearby Hotels

There are also lots of great hotels within walking distance of Disneyland, and some are even closer to the park entrances than the Disneyland Resort Hotels.

Staying off-property can save you a lot of money, especially during the summer. Many nearby hotels offer larger rooms, free breakfast, pools, and easy walking access to the parks.

Dining Options

Disneyland has everything from classic snacks to quick-service meals to table-service restaurants. Whether you want churros, corn dogs, character dining, seasonal treats, or a relaxing sit-down meal, you’ll have plenty of options.

But in the summer, dining takes a little planning.

Make Reservations for Popular Restaurants

Popular table-service restaurants can book up quickly, especially during busy summer dates.

If you want to eat at places like Blue Bayou, Lamplight Lounge, Carnation Cafe, Plaza Inn, or character dining locations, make reservations as early as possible.

Reservations open up to 60 days in advance.

If you don’t get what you want right away, keep checking. Cancellations happen all the time. Use Mouse Dining to help with those hard to get reservations.

Use Mobile Order

Mobile order is one of the easiest ways to save time at Disneyland.

I recommend checking mobile order windows before you’re starving. During busy times, pickup windows can get pushed out later than you expect.

Basically, don’t wait until your child is one skipped snack away from a full Disney meltdown.

You can absolutely eat all your meals at quick-service restaurants if you don’t want to bother with reservations.

Disneyland has lots of great quick-service options, and quick-service dining can be easier for families who want flexibility.

Disneyland In August

There is a lot to see and do when you’re visiting Disneyland in August! This month is a little bit of a transition month at the Disneyland Resort. Early August usually feels like peak summer, with hotter weather, longer park hours, summer crowds, and nighttime entertainment. Later in the month, crowds often start to dip as kids head back to school and Halloween offerings begin arriving at the resort.

The beginning of August 2026 is also the final stretch of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration, which runs through August 9, 2026. If you’re visiting during the first part of the month, you may still be able to enjoy 70th anniversary entertainment, decor, food, merchandise, and special offerings before the celebration ends.

Crowds At Disneyland In August

Early August at Disneyland is still right in the middle of summer vacation crowds. Families are finishing up their summer trips, tourists are visiting from all over, and the parks can still feel busy. But please don’t let that scare you away. You can still have an amazing time at Disneyland, even when it’s crowded.

I’ve created this Disneyland crowd calendar to help with your planning. Please remember that Disneyland is almost always crowded to some degree, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a great day. A good plan, an early start, Lightning Lane Multi Pass, mobile ordering, and a few breaks can make a huge difference.

For the lowest August crowds, I’d try to visit Tuesday through Thursday if you can. Weekends are usually busier, although Sundays can sometimes be better than Saturdays.

Because August is still a popular time to visit, Disneyland usually has longer park hours, especially earlier in the month. Longer hours can be great for families because you have more time to enjoy rides, shows, dining, and nighttime entertainment. Make sure you check the Disneyland app or official calendar before your visit so you know the park hours for your exact dates.

Toward the end of August, crowds at the Disneyland Resort are often lower. Kids are heading back to school, and many families are done with summer travel. If you’re looking for the least busy time of the month, late August can be a great option.

Halloween Time At Disneyland

Halloween kicks off at the Disneyland Resort August 21, 2026, and it’s one of the most popular seasonal times to visit. You can usually expect festive decor, seasonal food, Halloween merchandise, attraction overlays, and extra fall fun around the parks as the season gets going.

Oogie Boogie Bash also begins in August 2026 at Disney California Adventure. Weather At Disneyland In August

The weather at Disneyland in August is hot! Average daytime highs are usually in the mid to upper 80s, with lows in the mid 60s, but the parks can feel even hotter because of all the concrete, crowds, and time spent standing in the sun.

Try to get to the parks early so you can take advantage of the cooler morning hours, and consider staying later into the evening because Disneyland after dark usually feels much more comfortable. Taking a break back at your hotel in the middle of the day can be a lifesaver, especially in August.

Make sure you keep an eye on the weather before your trip so you can be prepared. Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, a refillable water bottle, cooling towels, and maybe even a portable fan. I’ve got lots of tips to help you beat the heat at Disneyland right here.

Keep comfort in mind when you’re deciding what to wear to Disneyland in August. The weather is usually hot, sunny, and dry, so lightweight and breathable clothing is best. Tank tops, t-shirts, shorts, athletic dresses, skorts, linen, and moisture-wicking fabrics are all great options.

Comfortable shoes are also a must. You’ll be walking a lot, standing in lines, and getting in and out of rides all day, so wear shoes you know you can handle for miles. August is not the time to break in a brand-new pair of sandals or sneakers.

Even though the weather is usually hot, you may still want to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt if you’re staying late. Southern California evenings can feel cooler, especially if you’re watching fireworks, World of Color, or spending time near the water at Disney California Adventure.

What To Pack For Disneyland In August

Packing for a Disney vacation can always be a little stressful. You don’t want to forget anything important, but you also don’t want to bring a bunch of stuff you don’t really need. I’ve got a printable Disneyland packing list that will be really helpful as you’re deciding what to take on your trip. I’ve thought of everything so you don’t have to. You do still have to pack, which I’m sorry about. Packing is the worst. But hopefully my free printable packing list will take most of the stress out of it! Having a well-packed park bag at Disneyland is so helpful, especially in August. Don’t pay a crazy price in the parks for something you could have easily brought from home or purchased ahead of time for much less. I have a full list of Disney park bag essentials that I like to keep with me while I’m inside the parks.

I also save a ton of money by buying things on Amazon before my trip. If you’re visiting in August, you’ll want to pack a few things to help you stay cool. I recommend bringing a small handheld fan, cooling towels, a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses, and possibly a small UV umbrella to create your own shade in long outdoor lines. Cooling towels are sold at Disneyland, but they’re usually much cheaper if you buy them before your trip and bring them with you. How To Keep Cool At Disneyland In August

You’re going to need a break from the heat at some point during your August Disneyland trip. Good news, there are plenty of ways to cool off!

One of my favorite options is taking a midday break back at the hotel. You can swim in the pool, take a nap, change clothes, or just enjoy a little air conditioning before heading back to the parks later in the day. This is especially helpful in August when the afternoon heat can feel intense.

If you’re staying in the parks, water rides can be a great way to cool down. Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure is the best option if you really want to get soaked. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland can also help you cool off, and depending on where you sit, you might get pretty wet!

I’m also a big fan of longer indoor attractions when it’s hot outside. Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world,” Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Rise of the Resistance are all great options when you need a break from the sun. Over in Disney California Adventure, Animation Academy or the Little Mermaid are great places to cool off for a bit while doing something fun.

You can also plan a longer lunch or dinner inside an air-conditioned restaurant, browse indoor shops, or find a shady spot with a cold drink and let everyone rest for a few minutes. Sometimes the best way to handle Disneyland in August is to slow down a little during the hottest part of the day so you have enough energy to enjoy the cooler evening hours.

Events and Ride Closures At Disneyland In August

I’ll update this section with the full August 2026 ride closure list as Disney releases more details. Disneyland’s refurbishment schedule is usually released closer to the travel dates, so make sure you check the Disneyland app or official calendar before your trip for the most current information.

August 2026 is a transition month at Disneyland. The Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration runs through August 9, 2026, so if you’re visiting during the first part of the month, you may still be able to enjoy anniversary entertainment, decor, merchandise, food, MagicBand+ interactions, and other special offerings before the celebration ends.

One ride closure to watch for in August is Haunted Mansion. Since Halloween Time begins on August 21, 2026, Haunted Mansion will likely close in early August so it can be transformed into Haunted Mansion Holiday. The overlay usually takes about two weeks to install. Disney has not released the exact 2026 closure dates yet, so if Haunted Mansion is a must-do attraction for your trip, make sure you check the Disneyland app or official refurbishment calendar before your visit.

Once Haunted Mansion Holiday opens, it becomes one of the most popular seasonal attractions at Disneyland. The overlay combines Haunted Mansion with Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, and it’s a huge part of the Halloween season at Disneyland.

Nighttime entertainment

There are lots of fun nighttime shows and entertainment options to enjoy at Disneyland in August! If you’re visiting during the first part of the month, the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration will still be going on through August 9, 2026, so you may be able to catch special entertainment like Paint the Night, Wondrous Journeys, World of Color Happiness!, Tapestry of Happiness, and more. Disney lists these as part of the 70th Celebration offerings.

After the 70th Celebration ends, entertainment may shift a bit as the resort gets ready for Halloween Time, which begins August 21, 2026. You can usually expect a strong entertainment lineup in August, but show schedules can change, so make sure you check the Disneyland app before your visit for the most current times and offerings.

If you have the time, make sure you plan to enjoy at least one nighttime show. Disneyland entertainment is always impressive, and after a hot August day, it feels so nice to slow down and enjoy the parks after dark.

Tips for a Great Visit To Disneyland In August

A trip to Disneyland is always magical, but August can come with heat, crowds, long lines, and a lot to manage. A little planning can make such a big difference! Here are a few tips to help you have a great Disneyland trip in August.

Get There Early

Arriving before the park opens can save you so much time. The first couple of hours of the day usually have the lowest crowds, and in August, the morning temperatures are much more comfortable than the afternoon heat.

If you can, I recommend rope dropping Disneyland. That means you arrive early, get through security, scan into the park, and are ready to head to your first attraction as soon as the park officially opens. Check out my rope drop guide for more help planning your morning.

Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be a huge time-saver during a busy August Disneyland trip. It allows you to use the Lightning Lane entrance on select attractions instead of waiting in the regular standby line.

Take Advantage of Single Rider Lines

If you’re okay with riding alone or being separated from your group, single rider lines can be a great way to save time. Not every attraction offers single rider, but when it’s available, it can be a helpful option.

Pack Snacks and Water

Bringing your own snacks and water can save money and help keep everyone hydrated and energized throughout the day. August can be hot, and nobody is having their best Disney day when they’re dehydrated and hangry.

The Disneyland app is one of the most helpful tools for your trip. You can use it to check wait times, find characters, mobile order food, look at maps, join virtual queues if needed, make dining reservations, check entertainment times, and manage Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

Download the app before your trip and take a few minutes to get familiar with it. It will make your park day so much easier.

Go With the Flow

Bring a good attitude and be flexible. Your attitude is a huge part of having a great vacation at the Happiest Place on Earth!

August can be hot. Rides may temporarily close. Someone may get tired. Your perfect schedule might fall apart by lunch. That’s okay. Go in with a plan, but leave room for breaks, snacks, surprises, and a little bit of Disney magic along the way..

July at Disneyland usually means sunny days, warm temperatures, and lots of time outside, so what you wear really does matter. Let’s get going! Here are some great options for what to wear to Disneyland in July so you can stay cool, comfortable, and ready for a full day in the parks.

Plan For Heat

Many people assume Southern California always has mild weather, but Disneyland can get hot during the summer. July is usually sunny and warm, with average highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the low to mid 60s. The parks can feel even hotter because of all the concrete, crowds, and time spent standing in the sun.

Be sure to check the weather forecast as you’re planning your vacation so you know what to expect during your exact travel dates. This will help you decide what to pack and what to wear each day.

Be Comfortable

Choose clothing that you feel comfortable in. This is so important! Disneyland in July is not the time to wear something that pinches, rubs, feels too heavy, or makes you miserable after an hour. Save the uncomfortable shoes and fancy outfits for a different vacation.

You’ll be walking around the parks all day, standing in lines, climbing in and out of ride vehicles, sitting on curbs for parades, and dealing with the heat. Choose clothing that is easy to move in, breathable, and comfortable.

Lightweight fabrics, moisture-wicking materials, athletic dresses, skorts, shorts, loose tops, and anything that helps you stay cool are all great options for Disneyland in July.

Tops

Choose tops for Disneyland that are light and breathable. I’m always more comfortable when I visit Disneyland in July if I’m wearing lighter colors and lightweight fabrics. Tank tops, t-shirts, linen tops, athletic tops, and short-sleeve shirts are all good options.

I would avoid heavy fabrics or long sleeves unless the shirt is very lightweight or you’re specifically trying to keep the sun off your arms. If you burn easily, a lightweight sun shirt can be a good option, but make sure it’s breathable enough for a hot park day.

I also like to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt with me on my Disneyland vacation. Even though the days can be hot at the Happiest Place on Earth, the evenings can sometimes feel cooler, especially if you’re staying late for fireworks or World of Color. Bottoms

Choose bottoms that are lightweight, breathable, and easy to move in. July is not the time for heavy denim. Chances are you’ll want to enjoy water rides like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or Grizzly River Run, and those attractions are a great way to cool off. But if your jeans get wet, you may regret every life choice that led you there. Wet jeans are heavy, take forever to dry, and can cause uncomfortable chafing.

I like to wear shorts, skorts, athletic skirts, lightweight capris, or quick-drying pants that won’t feel miserable if they get a little wet. Quick-drying bottoms are especially helpful if you’re planning to ride water attractions or if you just know you’ll be sweating in the July heat. Shoes

You’re going to want comfortable shoes for walking around Disneyland all day in July. I know a lot of people recommend tennis shoes, and those can be a great option, but I personally prefer supportive sandals in the hotter months.

I’m not talking about cheap flip-flops that have zero support. I mean comfortable, supportive sandals like Tevas, Crocs sandals, or another pair that you know your feet can handle for miles. I like sandals in the summer because my feet stay cooler, and I don’t have to worry as much about wet shoes after water rides.

These are my very favorite park shoes! I have them in black and white and they are the only shoes I can wear all day without my feet hurting!

That being said, I don’t think there’s one perfect pair of Disneyland shoes for everyone. We all have different feet and different needs. Some people are happiest in sneakers. Some people love sandals. Some people like to bring both and switch halfway through the day.

The most important thing is to wear shoes that are supportive, broken in, and comfortable for you.

Also, please don’t buy a brand-new pair of shoes and break them in during your Disney trip. That is how blisters are born, my friend. If you do end up with a blister and don’t have bandages, ask a Cast Member to point you toward First Aid. But it’s much better to come prepared with broken-in shoes and a few blister bandages in your park bag.

Hat

A hat to keep the sun off your face is a great idea. I like to bring a hat or visor in my park bag whenever I’m visiting Disneyland in July. The midday sun can be intense, and a little extra shade can make a big difference.

If hats aren’t your thing, you could also bring a small UV umbrella to create your own shade while you’re waiting in outdoor lines. It might feel a little extra, but honestly, a little shade goes a long way on a hot Disneyland day.

Sunscreen

Wearing sunscreen is so important at Disneyland in July. Even if you don’t usually burn easily, you’ll be outside for hours, and the sun can sneak up on you fast. This is my favorite sunscreen brand!

What Not To Wear To Disneyland

Disneyland doesn’t have a strict dress code in the sense that you need to dress up or wear anything fancy. Theme park clothes are totally fine! But Disney does have rules about what guests can and can’t wear in the parks.

According to Disneyland’s current park rules, guests ages 14 and older may not wear costumes in the theme parks, and masks may not be worn by guests ages 14 and older unless they are for medical purposes. Clothing with objectionable language or graphics, excessively torn clothing, clothing that exposes excessive portions of skin, clothing with multiple layers that may need extra screening, inappropriate visible tattoos, and bare feet are also not allowed.

For a regular July park day, you’ll be fine with comfortable summer clothing like shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, sundresses, athletic dresses, skorts, sneakers, or supportive sandals. Just make sure your outfit is family-friendly, comfortable, and something you can move around in all day.

Arrive early

Take advantage of the cooler morning hours! Early mornings are usually not only cooler, but also less crowded. If you can, I highly recommend rope dropping Disneyland.

Rope dropping means you arrive before the park officially opens so you’re already inside and ready to start riding attractions while other guests are still getting ready for the day. This can make such a big difference, especially in July when the parks get hotter and busier as the day goes on.

Drink lots of water. Or Diet Coke. I mean, you know I support a good Diet Coke moment, but please make sure you’re actually staying hydrated too!

Allowing yourself to get dehydrated is one of the fastest ways to have a miserable day at Disneyland, especially in July. Disneyland sells bottled water, but it can be expensive, so I like to bring a refillable water bottle.

You can also ask for free cups of ice water at most quick-service dining locations. It’s such an easy way to stay hydrated without spending extra money.

It’s a great idea to pack a refillable water bottle, a collapsible water bottle, or electrolyte packets so you’re not relying only on buying drinks in the parks.

Take Midday Break

If things start to feel overwhelmingly hot, take a midday break. You could head back to your hotel to swim in the pool, take a nap, change clothes, or just sit in the air conditioning for a little while.

If you don’t want to leave the parks, you can still take a break inside Disneyland. Grab a Dole Whip and watch Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, ride Pirates of the Caribbean, hop on the Disneyland Railroad, or find a shady spot with a cold drink.

When I’m visiting Disneyland in July, I also love making a lunch or early afternoon dining reservation. Having an air-conditioned place to sit down for an hour or so during the hottest part of the day can make a huge difference.

Have A Cold Treat

There’s nothing better than a cold treat on a hot Disneyland day! There are so many yummy options in the parks, from ice cream bars and cones to frozen drinks and seasonal treats.

My favorite treat on a hot day is a Dole Whip. You can find Dole Whips at Tropical Hideaway or near Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. I especially love a Dole Whip float because it’s so refreshing when it’s hot outside.

You can also look for other cold treats like frozen lemonade, slushes, smoothies, ice cream, and seasonal summer drinks. Sometimes a cold snack and a shady spot are exactly what you need to reset and keep going.

What to Expect At Disneyland In July

Disneyland in July has a lot to offer! Summer is in full swing, the parks usually have longer operating hours, and there’s plenty of entertainment, seasonal food, and fun happening throughout the Disneyland Resort.

But July is also one of those months where a little planning goes a long way. You’ll want to be prepared for warmer weather, bigger crowds, and busy holiday dates, especially around the Fourth of July and Disneyland’s birthday on July 17th.

Crowds at Disneyland in July

Disneyland in July will be fairly crowded. I know the idea of dealing with crowds at Disneyland can feel stressful, but please don’t let that scare you away. You can still have an amazing time, even when the parks are busy. Some of our best Disney days have happened during crowded seasons because we went in with a plan and the right expectations.

The good news is that because July is such a popular time to visit, Disneyland usually has longer park hours. That gives you more time to enjoy attractions, entertainment, food, and nighttime shows. Make sure you check the Disneyland app or the official Disneyland calendar before your visit so you know the park hours for your exact dates.

For the lowest July crowds, I’d try to visit Tuesday through Thursday if you can or on a Sunday. Fridays can still be a decent option, but Saturdays and holiday dates will usually be busier. If you’re visiting during a crowded time, don’t panic. Arrive early, use Lightning Lane Multi Pass if it fits your budget, mobile order your food, take breaks when you need them, and go in knowing you probably won’t do everything. That’s okay! You can still have a really magical trip.

Weather at Disneyland In July

The weather at Disneyland in July is usually hot, sunny, and dry. Average daytime highs are typically in the low to mid 80s, with lows in the low to mid 60s, but the parks can feel even hotter because of all the concrete, crowds, and time spent standing in the sun.

If you’re visiting Disneyland in July, try to get to the parks early so you can take advantage of the cooler morning hours. Then, consider staying later into the evening because Disneyland after dark usually feels much more comfortable. Taking a break back at your hotel in the middle of the day can be a lifesaver, especially if you’re traveling with little kids or anyone who needs a reset from the heat.

What To Wear To Disneyland In July

Comfort is the most important thing to think about when you’re deciding what to wear to Disneyland in July. The weather is usually hot and sunny, so lightweight, breathable clothing is best. Think shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, sundresses, athletic dresses, linen, moisture-wicking fabrics, and anything that will help you stay cool while walking around the parks all day.

Comfortable shoes are also a must. July is not the time to break in brand-new sandals or cute shoes that hurt after an hour. Wear shoes you know you can walk in for miles, and consider bringing a second pair if you’re prone to blisters or your feet get tired.

Even though July is warm, I still like to bring a light jacket, sweatshirt, or long-sleeve layer for the evening. Southern California nights can feel cooler, especially if you’re watching fireworks, World of Color, or staying until park closing.

How to Keep Cool at Disneyland In July

You’re going to need a break from the heat at some point during your July Disneyland trip. Good news, there are plenty of ways to cool off!

One of my favorite options is taking a midday break back at the hotel. You can swim in the pool, take a nap, change clothes, or just enjoy a little air conditioning before heading back to the parks later in the day. This is especially helpful if you’re traveling with little kids or anyone who struggles in the heat.

If you’re staying in the parks, water rides can be a great way to cool down. Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure is the best option if you really want to get soaked. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland can also help you cool off, and depending on where you sit, you might get pretty wet!

I’m also a big fan of longer indoor attractions when it’s hot outside. Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world,” Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Rise of the Resistance. are all great options when you need a break from the sun. Over in Disney California Adventure, Animation Academy and the Little Mermaid are also great places to cool off for a bit while doing something fun.

You can also plan a longer lunch or dinner inside an air-conditioned restaurant, browse indoor shops, or find a shady spot with a cold drink and let everyone rest for a few minutes. Sometimes the best way to handle Disneyland in July is to slow down a little during the hottest part of the day so you have enough energy to enjoy the cooler evening hours.

Events At Disneyland In July

Disneyland in July is usually a really fun time to visit! Summer is in full swing, the parks often have longer hours, and there’s usually a full entertainment lineup with fireworks, nighttime spectaculars, parades, and seasonal offerings.

I’ll update this section with the full July 2026 ride closure and event list as Disney releases more details. Disneyland’s refurbishment schedule is usually released closer to the travel dates, so make sure you check the Disneyland app or official calendar before your trip for the most current information. Below is an example of last year’s July events and closures. I’ll update this with the 2026 list as soon as Disney releases it.

4th of July Celebration

Disneyland usually celebrates the Fourth of July with special patriotic fireworks. This fireworks show is incredibly popular and draws big crowds, so if you’re planning to be in the parks on July 4th, go in expecting it to be busy. People will often watch from inside Disneyland, around the esplanade, or nearby areas where the fireworks are visible. Park admission is not required to be in the esplanade, but space can still get crowded.

Disney’s official fireworks page currently lists a Fourth of July fireworks offering called Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky, so this is something to watch for as the July 2026 entertainment schedule gets closer.

You can also check out the Flag Retreat Ceremony on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park. This is a daily ceremony where past and present members of the Armed Forces are honored. It’s such a special tradition, and I’m always glad Disneyland still does this. Check the Disneyland app for the exact showtime during your visit.

Disney California Adventure has also offered patriotic World of Color moments in past years, but I’d check the Disneyland app closer to your trip for the exact 2026 entertainment schedule.

Disneyland’s Birthday

Disneyland’s birthday is July 17th! Disneyland first opened on July 17, 1955, which means the park turns 71 years old in 2026.

Even though Disneyland’s official 70th birthday was in 2025, the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration is still going strong through August 9, 2026, so July is still a really fun time to visit if you want to enjoy the anniversary entertainment, decor, food, merchandise, and celebration energy around the parks.

It’s also pretty fun to be in the parks on Disneyland’s actual birthday. Many guests like to spend the day doing an opening day ride challenge, where they try to ride the attractions that were operating when Disneyland opened in 1955. Soarin’ Across America

New for summer 2026, Soarin’ Across America begins at Disney California Adventure on July 2, 2026. This limited-time version of Soarin’ celebrates America’s 250th anniversary and takes guests on a flight over some of the country’s beautiful landscapes and iconic landmarks. If you’re visiting Disneyland in July, this is definitely something to add to your list, especially if you love Soarin’ or want to experience something seasonal during your trip.

Nighttime entertainment

There are lots of fun nighttime shows and entertainment options to enjoy at Disneyland in July! During the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration, guests can look for entertainment like Paint the Night, Wondrous Journeys, World of Color Happiness!, Tapestry of Happiness, Fantasmic!, and more. Entertainment schedules can change, so always check the Disneyland app before your visit for the most current showtimes.

July is usually one of the best months for nighttime entertainment because the parks often have longer summer hours. If you have time in your schedule, make sure you plan to enjoy at least one nighttime show. They really are such a magical part of a Disneyland vacation.

Having a well-packed park bag at Disneyland is so helpful, especially in July. Don’t pay a crazy price in the parks for something you could have easily brought from home or purchased ahead of time for much less. Tips for a Great Visit To Disneyland In July

Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is Disneyland’s paid skip-the-standby-line system for select attractions. It replaced the old Genie+ system, which replaced the even older FastPass and MaxPass systems.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be a huge time-saver in July because summer crowds can mean longer standby waits. It is an additional fee per person, per day, but it can help you get more done with less time waiting in line. It also includes Disney PhotoPass digital downloads from your day, which is a nice little bonus.

If you’re visiting during a busy July date, especially around the Fourth of July, Disneyland’s birthday, or a weekend, Lightning Lane Multi Pass is definitely something to consider, but make sure you know how to use it so you don’t waste your money! Rope Drop

The first couple of hours after the park opens usually have the lowest crowd levels of the entire day. So, if you can handle an early morning, it’s worth it! Skip sleeping in, get to the parks early, and take a break later in the day when the parks are hotter and busier.

I recommend arriving at least 60 minutes before park opening if you want to rope drop. That gives you time to get through security, scan into the park, and be ready to head toward your first attraction when the park officially opens.

I highly recommend rope dropping the parks if possible, but you do want to have a plan. Rope dropping the wrong attractions can throw off your morning. For example, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance can be a tricky rope drop choice because it has a long walk and can be unpredictable first thing in the morning. Mobile Order

When visiting Disneyland in July, you’re going to want to skip as many long lines as possible. Good news, you can skip many food lines by using mobile order in the Disneyland app!

With mobile order, you can browse menus, choose a pickup window, place your order, and pay right from your phone. Then, when it’s time to eat, you’ll use the app to let the restaurant know you’re there and ready for your food. They’ll prepare your order, and the app will let you know when it’s ready to pick up.

It’s such a time-saver, especially during busy lunch and dinner times. Most quick-service restaurants around the parks offer mobile order, and I recommend using it whenever you can. You can check out my favorite quick-service dining options in both parks here.

Take a Break Midday

The warmer July weather can take a toll on you, so I highly recommend planning some kind of midday break. Then you’ll have more energy to stay later and enjoy the cooler evening temperatures, nighttime entertainment, and those magical after-dark park vibes.

Many people like to head back to their hotel for a midday break. This is a great option! You can swim in the pool, take a nap, change clothes, cool off in the air conditioning, and come back feeling refreshed for the late afternoon and evening.

If you don’t want to leave the parks, you can still build in a break. Sometimes I’ll ride the Disneyland Railroad around the park while I enjoy popcorn and a Diet Coke. Sometimes I’ll find a shady spot to people-watch. Often, I’ll schedule a dining reservation for later in the afternoon so we can sit down and enjoy a slower meal inside an air-conditioned restaurant.

You can also explore Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, take a drawing class at Animation Academy, enjoy a longer indoor attraction, or spend some time browsing the shops. There are so many ways to slow down and reset without leaving the parks.

Take Time For Show/Entertainment

I know it’s tempting to rush from attraction to attraction, but slow down a bit and make time for Disneyland’s entertainment. Shows, cavalcades, parades, character moments, and nighttime spectaculars can add so much magic to your day.

Avengers Campus has entertainment that’s especially fun for Marvel fans, and Storytelling at the Royal Theatre is a great option for princess fans. During July 2026, you’ll also want to check the entertainment schedule for Disneyland’s 70th Celebration offerings, nighttime shows, and any seasonal entertainment happening during your visit.

Entertainment is also a great way to take a break from long lines, especially during the hottest part of the day.

Have a good attitude

One of the very best things you can do when visiting Disney theme parks is to have a good attitude. Actually, it might be the most important thing. I know, I know, it sounds like such a simple tip, but it really does make a difference.

July can be hot. It can be crowded. Things might not go exactly as planned. A ride may temporarily close, someone may get tired, or your perfectly planned schedule may fall apart by lunchtime. That’s okay.

Whether this is your first Disneyland vacation or you visit often, decide ahead of time that you’re going to have a good time no matter what. Go in with a plan, but stay flexible. Take breaks when you need them, laugh when things get a little chaotic, and remember that you’re at Disneyland. You get to decide what kind of Disney day you’re going to have, so decide in advance that it’s going to be a great one.

June can be a great time to visit Disneyland, especially if summer is the easiest time for your family to travel. Kids are out of school, the park hours are usually longer, nighttime entertainment is often running, and there’s a fun summer vacation feeling in the parks.

The tradeoff, of course, is the crowds.

June is not usually a quiet month at Disneyland. Summer break brings in families from all over the country, and the parks can feel busy, especially as the month goes on.

But I really don’t think crowds have to ruin your trip. I’ve had great Disneyland days during busy seasons. The difference is knowing what you’re walking into and having a plan that helps you avoid wasting time.

You don’t need a perfect minute-by-minute schedule. Honestly, those usually fall apart by lunchtime anyway. You just need enough of a plan that you’re not standing in the middle of Main Street, hot, hungry, and wondering what to do next.

Disneyland June 2026 Crowd Calendar

Disneyland in June is usually busy. Summer break brings families from all over the country, and once those summer crowds arrive, they tend to stick around for a while.

That said, June can still be a great time to visit.

You probably won’t walk onto every ride in the middle of the afternoon. That’s just not realistic for most June days. But you can still get a lot done if you arrive early, use the Disneyland app, take breaks, and use your park time wisely.

For lower June crowds, I usually recommend visiting during the first part of the month if you can. Weekdays are usually better than weekends, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are often better than Friday through Monday.

Of course, no day at Disneyland is truly “empty” anymore. I wish. Wouldn’t that be lovely?

You’ll also want to watch for Grad Nite dates and special events because those can affect crowds, especially later in the day.

Best Days to Visit Disneyland in June

If you have flexibility, the best days to visit Disneyland in June are usually weekdays.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sundays are often my first choices. Mondays and Fridays can still be good, but they sometimes pull in longer-weekend crowds. Saturdays are usually the busiest.

If you’re visiting during a busy time, don’t panic. I don’t want you feeling like your trip is doomed just because you picked a busy day. You can absolutely still have a great time.

You’ll just want to be more intentional.

Arrive early. Prioritize your must-do attractions. Mobile order before everyone is starving. Take a break when your family starts melting down. And do not wait until the afternoon to start riding the most popular rides.

That’s where people get into trouble.

Disneyland Ride Closures and Important June Dates

Before your June Disneyland trip, it’s a good idea to check both ride closures and special event dates. June is part of the busy summer season, so Disneyland usually tries to keep as many major attractions open as possible, but refurbishments and unexpected closures can still happen.

You’ll also want to pay close attention to event dates like Grad Nite and Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite. These events can affect crowds, park hours, entertainment, and how you plan your day.

June 2026 Grad Nite Dates at Disneyland

Disneyland hosts Grad Nite on select nights in May and June. These events are for graduating high school seniors, and they can affect crowds and park hours, especially at Disney California Adventure.

The June 2026 Grad Nite dates are June 3, 5, 7, 10, and 12.

If you’re visiting on a Grad Nite, don’t stress. You can still have a great day. I’ve been in the parks during Grad Nites before, and it was still completely doable. You just need to know it’s happening so you can plan around it.

Arrive early.

Check park hours before your visit.

If Disney California Adventure is important to you, consider doing it earlier in the day.

Make dining reservations ahead of time if you want a table-service meal.

Expect more teens in the parks later in the day.

Have a plan for nighttime entertainment.

Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass if it fits your budget.

Grad Nites don’t have to ruin your trip. They’re just one more thing to be aware of when you’re choosing your dates and making your plans.

Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite in June 2026

Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite takes place at Disneyland Park on June 16 and June 18, 2026. This is a separately ticketed after-hours event from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM, and event ticket holders can enter Disneyland Park as early as 6:00 PM.

If you do not have a Pride Nite ticket, make sure you check the park hours before choosing your park day. Special events can affect nighttime plans, entertainment schedules, and how crowded Disneyland Park feels in the evening.

If you’re visiting on a Pride Nite date, you may want to spend the earlier part of the day at Disneyland Park and then hop over to Disney California Adventure in the evening, depending on your ticket type and plans.

The biggest thing is to know before you go. Nobody wants to show up expecting a full Disneyland night and then realize the park is closing earlier than they planned.

Disneyland 70th Celebration in June

One of the biggest reasons to visit Disneyland in June 2026 is the Disneyland 70th Celebration. The celebration runs through August 9, 2026, so June visitors should still be able to enjoy anniversary entertainment, decorations, food, merchandise, and special offerings.

This is such a fun bonus if you’re already planning a summer trip.

Entertainment may include Paint the Night, Wondrous Journeys, World of Color Happiness!, and Tapestry of Happiness, depending on the schedule during your trip. Always check the Disneyland app before your visit because entertainment times can change, and fireworks are especially dependent on weather.

The 70th Celebration also brings special food, drinks, merchandise, and photo opportunities, so leave a little room in your schedule to enjoy the extras.

This is not the time to rush from ride to ride without looking around. Some of the best parts of a Disneyland celebration are the little details you notice along the way.

Nighttime Entertainment at Disneyland in June

June is usually a great month for nighttime entertainment at Disneyland. Schedules can change, so always check the Disneyland app during your visit, but summer typically brings more entertainment options than slower times of year.

Here are some nighttime entertainment options to watch for during June 2026.

Paint the Night Parade

Paint the Night is a fan-favorite nighttime parade filled with lights, music, color, and so much Disney energy.

If it’s running during your visit, it’s absolutely worth making time for. It’s one of those entertainment offerings that just feels like classic Disneyland magic.

For the best experience, check the app for showtimes and plan your spot early. Parade viewing areas can fill up quickly, especially during busy summer nights.

Wondrous Journeys

Wondrous Journeys is a beautiful nighttime spectacular celebrating Walt Disney Animation Studios. During the show, projections transform areas like Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, “it’s a small world,” and the Rivers of America.

On select nights, the show may include fireworks, but fireworks are never guaranteed. Wind and weather can affect the schedule, so keep an eye on the app.

My personal advice? If fireworks are really important to you, try to see them earlier in your trip instead of saving them for your last night. That way, if they get canceled, you may have another chance.

World of Color Happiness!

World of Color Happiness! is part of the Disneyland 70th Celebration at Disney California Adventure. It brings water, music, lights, projections, and Disney storytelling together in a really fun way.

If World of Color is a priority for your family, make sure you check viewing options in the Disneyland app. You may be able to use the virtual queue, dining packages, or dessert party options depending on availability.

This is one of those shows where a little planning makes the whole experience easier.

Fantasmic!

Fantasmic! is one of Disneyland’s most iconic nighttime shows. It takes place along the Rivers of America and combines characters, music, water screens, projections, and live performers. If you’ve never seen it before, it’s definitely worth adding to your list. Just know that viewing areas can get crowded, so plan ahead.

If you’re visiting with little kids, think through whether they can handle a late night before you commit. A magical nighttime show is wonderful. A full family meltdown on Main Street at 10:45 PM? Less wonderful.

Disneyland Dining Packages and Dessert Parties

Disneyland offers dining packages and dessert parties for some nighttime entertainment. These can be a great option if you want a reserved viewing area without spending a huge chunk of your day saving a spot.

Dining packages usually include a meal and access to a reserved viewing area for a specific show. The World of Color Dessert Party is another popular option because it includes treats, drinks, and seated viewing.

Fantasmic! is another one that offers reserved viewing but for most of those, you dine before the show, not during it. I talk more about that in my guide to Fantasmic! post.

These experiences can be pricey, but they may be worth it if nighttime entertainment is a big priority for your trip.

Reservations are usually available up to 60 days in advance, and popular packages can book quickly. If there’s one you really want, don’t wait until the last minute.

I wouldn’t say every family needs a dining package. But if you’re traveling during a busy June week and really want a better shot at a decent viewing area, it may be worth looking into.

Disneyland Weather in June

Disneyland weather in June is usually warm, but not unbearable. Mornings can sometimes be cloudy or cool because of what locals call June gloom. By the afternoon, the clouds often burn off and the parks can feel much warmer.

June is usually not as hot as August or September, but don’t underestimate how warm it can feel when you’re walking around on pavement all day.

You’ll want sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable shoes, and lightweight clothes. I also recommend bringing a light layer for the morning or evening, especially if you get cold easily.

Before your trip, check the weather forecast. I know that sounds obvious, but it’s one of those simple things people forget when they’re packing ears, outfits, chargers, snacks, and all the things.

What to Wear to Disneyland in June

When you’re visiting Disneyland in June, comfort matters. This is not the time to wear brand-new shoes or an outfit that only works if the weather is perfect.

I recommend lightweight, breathable clothes that are comfortable for walking, sitting, standing in line, and getting in and out of rides.

Good options for Disneyland in June include:

Comfortable shorts

Lightweight dresses

Skirts with bike shorts underneath

Breathable tops

Comfortable walking shoes

A light sweatshirt or jacket for the morning and evening

A hat or Minnie ears

Sunglasses

The shoes you wear are especially important. You’ll probably walk miles during your Disneyland day, so choose shoes you already know are comfortable.

Your cute shoes can come to dinner. Your comfortable shoes need to come to the parks. These are my very favorite park shoes. Actually, they are my favorite everyday shoes too. They are the only shoes I can wear all day that don’t hurt my feet. Plus, they help keep me cool and I don’t have to worry about them on water rides.

What to Pack for Disneyland in June

Having a well-packed park bag can make your Disneyland day so much easier. Disney sells plenty of things inside the parks, but they’re usually more expensive than bringing them from home.

Here are a few things I recommend packing for Disneyland in June:

Sunscreen

Sunglasses

Refillable water bottle

Portable phone charger

Cooling towel or fan

Snacks

Hand sanitizer

Bandages or blister care

Light jacket or sweatshirt

Poncho if rain is in the forecast

Any medications your family may need

Hair ties

Small first aid items

One of my favorite money-saving tips is ordering park bag essentials before a trip. It’s so much better than realizing you need sunscreen, a fan, or a phone charger after you’re already inside the parks. I save a lot of money by buying stuff ahead of time!

Because once you’re paying Disney prices for something you could have packed from home, it hurts a little.

How to Beat the Heat at Disneyland in June

June at Disneyland can get hot, especially in the afternoon. It’s usually not the worst heat of the year, but it can still wear you out if you’re walking all day on pavement.

Here are some of my favorite ways to beat the heat at Disneyland. I’ve got a whole post about how to beat the heat at Disneyland. Check it out!

Arrive early and get a lot done in the morning.

Take a midday break if you’re staying close by.

Ride indoor attractions during the hottest part of the day.

Drink more water than you think you need.

Use mobile order so you’re not standing in long food lines.

Take advantage of indoor shows and shops.

Grab cold treats or ice water when you need a break.

Plan water rides for the afternoon.

At Disneyland Park, attractions like “it’s a small world,” Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and the Disneyland Railroad can be great ways to rest and cool off.

At Disney California Adventure, consider attractions like The Little Mermaid, Monsters, Inc., Soarin’, Animation Academy, and Mickey’s PhilharMagic when you need a break from the sun.

A midday hotel break can also be a lifesaver in June, especially if you’re traveling with babies, toddlers, kids, grandparents, or anyone who needs a slower pace.

And honestly, sometimes the best Disneyland strategy is leaving before everyone gets cranky and coming back later. That’s not giving up. That’s a smart strategy.

Should You Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass at Disneyland in June?

For most June trips, I do recommend considering Lightning Lane Multi Pass, especially if you only have one or two park days. June crowds can be high, and Multi Pass can help you spend less time waiting in long standby lines.

It is not cheap, so I don’t want to act like it’s no big deal. If you’re traveling with a family, the cost can add up quickly.

But if your goal is to get a lot done, especially during a busy summer month, it can be really helpful.

Just remember that not every ride is included. At Disneyland Park, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction. At Disney California Adventure, Radiator Springs Racers is also a Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction. That means those are separate purchases and are not included with regular Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

If you’re going to buy Multi Pass, don’t just casually grab random return times. Have a plan. Some rides run out faster than others, and using Lightning Lane well can make a big difference.

In June, I’d especially consider Lightning Lane Multi Pass if:

You only have one day in the parks.

You’re visiting over a weekend.

You want to ride a lot of headliners.

You don’t want to spend the whole day in standby lines.

You’re park hopping.

You’re visiting with kids who don’t handle long waits well.

Because the last thing you want is to pay for Lightning Lane and then realize halfway through the day that you didn’t use it very well.

Best Rope Drop Strategy for Disneyland in June

Rope drop is one of the best ways to beat the crowds at Disneyland in June. If you can arrive before park opening, you’ll usually get more done in the first few hours than you will during the busy middle of the day. I know getting up early on vacation is not always fun. I get it. But if you can do it, those first couple of hours can be golden.

For June, I recommend arriving at security early, being inside the park before official opening, and heading straight to a popular ride or land before the crowds build.

A few good rope drop options at Disneyland Park include:

Fantasyland if you have little kids

Adventureland and New Orleans Square for Indiana Jones, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion

Tomorrowland if Space Mountain is a priority

Mickey’s Toontown if your family wants Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

At Disney California Adventure, popular rope drop choices include:

Radiator Springs Racers(not my top choice)

Guardians of the Galaxy

WEB SLINGERS

Toy Story Midway Mania

Soarin’

The biggest rope drop mistake is arriving right at park opening and thinking you’re early. You really want to be through security and ready to go before the park officially opens.

Once the afternoon crowds show up, you’ll be so glad you got those early rides done.

Single Rider Lines at Disneyland

Single Rider can be a great way to save time at Disneyland, especially during busy June days. It allows Cast Members to fill empty seats on select attractions with individual riders.

Your group will be split up, so it’s not ideal if you want to ride together, but it can save a lot of time.

Single Rider can be especially helpful for older kids, teens, adults, or groups who don’t mind being separated. Participating attractions and wait times may vary, so always check the Disneyland app or ask a Cast Member before counting on it.

This is one of my favorite little time-saving tricks because people forget about it. It’s not right for every ride or every group, but when it works, it can be amazing.

Rider Switch at Disneyland

If you’re visiting Disneyland with babies, toddlers, or kids who aren’t tall enough for certain attractions, Rider Switch can be incredibly helpful.

Rider Switch allows part of your group to ride while another adult waits with the child who isn’t riding. Then the waiting adult can ride without waiting in the regular line all over again.

This is a great option for families who have a mix of thrill riders and little kids.

If you want to use Rider Switch, bring your whole group to the attraction entrance and ask a Cast Member for help before anyone gets in line. Find more info on my guide to using Rider Switch at Disneyland.

This can make a huge difference if you’re visiting with little ones. You don’t have to choose between everyone missing the big rides or one adult getting stuck on stroller duty all day.

Disneyland Planning Tips for June

A trip to Disneyland is magical, but it can also feel overwhelming if you’re trying to figure everything out as you go. June is one of those months where planning ahead really pays off.

Here are my best Disneyland planning tips for June:

Arrive early.

Use the Disneyland app.

Mobile order meals before peak lunch and dinner times.

Make dining reservations up to 60 days in advance for popular table-service restaurants.

Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass strategically if you purchase it.

Rope drop your highest-priority attractions.

Take a midday break if you’re staying nearby.

Drink lots of water.

Wear comfortable shoes.

Check entertainment times in the app.

Know the Grad Nite and Pride Nite dates before choosing your park days.

Pack sunscreen and cooling items.

Don’t over-schedule every minute.

You do not need a perfect trip. Perfect Disney trips are fake. There will probably be a long line, someone will get tired, someone will spill something, and at some point you may question every decision you made.

That’s normal.

What Not to Do at Disneyland in June

Sometimes knowing what not to do is just as helpful as knowing what to do.

Here are a few mistakes I’d avoid during a June Disneyland trip:

Don’t show up late and expect short lines.

Don’t wait until noon to start riding popular attractions.

Don’t forget sunscreen.

Don’t wear uncomfortable shoes.

Don’t ignore Grad Nite or special event dates.

Don’t wait too long to mobile order food.

Don’t skip breaks if your family is tired.

Don’t try to do every single thing.

Don’t assume fireworks are guaranteed.

Don’t forget to check park hours before your visit.

June can be busy, but it’s much easier when you know what you’re walking into.

Also, please don’t make your entire family power through the parks when everyone is clearly done. Sometimes the best thing you can do is go back to the hotel, cool off, rest, and come back later feeling like actual humans again.

Final Thoughts on Visiting Disneyland in June

Visiting Disneyland in June can be busy, warm, and a little overwhelming if you show up without a plan. But it can also be such a fun time to visit.

You’ll usually find longer park hours, lots of entertainment, summer energy, and in 2026, the Disneyland 70th Celebration will still be going strong.

My best advice is to plan ahead, arrive early, use Lightning Lane Multi Pass strategically if it fits your budget, take breaks when you need them, and don’t try to force a perfect day.

There is no such thing as a perfect Disneyland trip. But with a good plan, comfortable shoes, a little patience, and maybe a churro or two, you can have a pretty magical June vacation.

Here’s everything you need to know about visiting Disneyland in April!

Disneyland In April Crowds

Disneyland in April can get crowded due to Spring Breaks. Spring Break season is an ideal time to visit for many families(maybe yours!), so their children don’t miss school. The good news is Disneyland will have longer hours and scheduled entertainment more often, so you should have plenty of time in the park.

Expect the highest crowds from late March through mid April due to spring break. If you can visit later in the month, you may see slightly lower crowd levels.

Don’t let higher crowds scare you away! You can still have a great time, even when it’s crowded. I do recommend arriving at security at least 60 minutes early. You’ll want to take advantage of the lower wait times in the morning! The afternoons bring long lines. I have many other tips to help you enjoy Disneyland when it’s crowded here. 

The best days to visit for low crowd levels are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. My Disneyland crowd calendar will be helpful for you, but keep in mind: this is my best guess at crowd levels. I don’t have a magic crystal ball, so I use this calendar for planning purposes only. 

Best Time to Visit Disneyland in April

If you have flexibility, the best time to visit Disneyland in April is later in the month after most spring break crowds have ended.

Early April tends to be the busiest, especially around Easter.

Late April can still be busy, but crowds are usually a little more manageable.

Disneyland in April Strategy You Should Not Skip!

If you are visiting in April, you need a plan for Lightning Lane.

Crowds are high this time of year and standby wait times can easily reach 60 to 120 minutes for the most popular rides by midday.

But you do not have to wait in those lines.

Disneyland in April Weather

Disneyland in April usually has mild weather. The days are starting to warm up, nights aren’t as chilly, and the rainy season has mostly come and gone.

The average high is 74 degrees F, with an average low of 54 degrees F. You may still want to pack a jacket for those chilly evenings. Keep an eye on the weather leading up to your trip so you can be prepared for a rainy day! By the end of the month, it can be pretty warm!

Disneyland In April Events

April is one of the most exciting months to visit Disneyland because there is so much happening.

Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival

This festival runs through April 27th 2026. You will find food booths, special entertainment, and lots of limited time menu items throughout the park. Check out my guide to the Food and Wine Festival with a free printable foodie guide!

Season of The Force

In past years, Disneyland has hosted a full “Season of the Force” Star Wars celebration in the spring.

For 2026, Disney has not officially announced a full Season of the Force event.

However, Star Wars experiences will still be happening in late April and May, including new updates in Galaxy’s Edge and special ticketed events like Star Wars Nite.

If you are visiting earlier in April, you will likely not see these offerings. If your trip is at the end of the month or into May, you may experience more Star Wars themed entertainment and offerings.

Dapper Day

Dapper Day will take place on April 19, 2026, with additional events and the Dapper Day Expo happening April 18 and 19.

This unofficial event is when guests dress up in stylish outfits, often inspired by vintage fashion. You will see everything from classic 1950s looks to modern, polished outfits.

Even if you are not planning to dress up, it is a really fun day to be in the parks because so many people go all out.

Easter At Disneyland

Easter at Disneyland April 5 2026

Disneyland usually celebrates Easter with a fun egg scavenger hunt across both parks. You can purchase a map, find the hidden eggs, and redeem it for a prize.

Tip. These events do bring in more people, but they also make April one of the most fun times to visit.

Here’s an updated list with events and ride closures at Disneyland in April for you to be aware of.

Disney Channel Nite

Disney Channel Nite is a special after hours event at Disneyland that takes place on April 12, 14, and 16, 2026.

This is a separately ticketed event, which means the park will close early to regular guests on these nights.

If you do not have a ticket for the event, you will need to leave the park before it begins. If you do have a ticket, you can enter as early as 6:00 PM and stay for exclusive entertainment, shorter ride lines, themed food, and character experiences.

Tip. These nights can actually be great days to visit because crowds are often lighter earlier in the day, but just be aware that the park will close earlier than usual.

Star Wars Nite

Star Wars Nite is a special after hours event at Disneyland that takes place on select nights in April and May.

In 2026, Star Wars Nite will be held on April 28, April 30, May 4, and May 6.

This is a separately ticketed event, which means Disneyland will close early to regular guests on these nights.

If you do not have a ticket, you will need to leave the park before the event begins. If you do have a ticket, you can enter earlier in the evening and enjoy shorter wait times, special entertainment, themed food, and unique character experiences.

Tip. Like other after hours events, these days can actually be great to visit because crowds are often lighter earlier in the day, but you will want to plan for an earlier park closing.

What To Expect At Disneyland In April

Most of the rides and attractions should be up and running. Expect higher crowds because of Spring break. You can expect both parks to be open longer due to higher crowds. Take advantage of the longer park hours by staying later if you can! Arriving in time for rope drop will make all the difference during higher crowd days! Don’t let higher crowds scare you away. April is a great time to visit, and you can still have a great time, even in a crowded park.

⁣Marketplace kiosks open at 10:30am.  People will start lining up about 20 minutes early at their favorite kiosks.

Lines at individual kiosks during the Food And Wine Festival get long! You don’t have to spend your entire day in line though. Find the shortest line and order everything you want(including items from other kiosks) all at once. Then, you simply show your receipt at the kiosks you’ve purchased items from and you can pick them up without waiting on line. 

⁣Keep in mind, you don’t have to have a sip and savor pass to purchase food from the Marketplaces. You can purchase items individually too.

Crowds do increase throughout the month as spring break begins, but that’s true for most popular travel seasons at Disneyland. With the right planning, you can still accomplish a lot and have an amazing trip.

Early March typically has more manageable crowds, while late March tends to be busier due to spring break travel.

If you’re prepared with a good strategy — like rope dropping and using Lightning Lane — March can be a fantastic time to visit.

Disneyland Crowds In March

If you’re visiting Disneyland in March, be prepared for high crowds at times. This can translate into some long lines. The crowds will get larger as the month goes on and more kids are out of school for spring break.

Good news! You can still have a great vacation even if you’re visiting at a busy time of year. I’ve got lots of info for dealing with high crowd levels here. If you’re looking for lower crowds, try to visit beginning of the month before the spring break crowds are in full swing. The end of the month will be more crowded.

Spring break crowds also mean Lightning Lane reservations can sell out earlier in the day — especially for popular rides like Space Mountain and Indiana Jones.

The weather at Disneyland in March is usually sunny and comfortable. There’s still a chance of rain here and there, but usually nothing crazy! The average high in March is 71 F and the average low is 52 F.

Make sure you keep an eye on the weather, so you can be prepared for rain if need be. The days will be sunny, but the evenings can be chilly when visiting Disneyland in March. Make sure you pack a jacket for the cooler morning and evenings.

March is a fun time to visit because several seasonal events begin during this month. Depending on your travel dates, you may experience special festivals, entertainment, and limited-time offerings.

Here are some of the highlights you can expect.

Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites

Disneyland is hosting a special after-hours event in March called Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites, and it’s something to be aware of if you’re planning a trip during this time.

This limited-capacity ticketed event takes place on:

• March 3, 2026
• March 5, 2026

On these nights, Disneyland Park will close early to regular guests so the private party can begin.

Even if you’re not attending the event, this can still impact your visit in a few ways.

First, crowds often shift. Some guests avoid those dates entirely, while others visit Disney California Adventure instead, which can make crowd patterns a little unpredictable.

Second, hotel prices can increase around special event dates, especially at the Disneyland Resort hotels and nearby walking-distance hotels.

If you are attending the event, you’ll typically get:

• Shorter ride wait times
• Unique entertainment
• Special character appearances
• Exclusive photo opportunities
• Themed food and merchandise
• A much lower-crowd experience in the park

After Dark events are especially popular with Disney fans because they offer a rare chance to experience attractions with minimal waits and unique entertainment you won’t see during the day.

Planning tip: If you’re visiting during the first week of March but not attending the event, consider choosing a different park day for Disneyland or planning a shorter evening since the park will close early.

On event days, Lightning Lane demand during the daytime can be higher than normal, so planning your reservations early is especially helpful.

New for 2026: Bluey at Disneyland

If you’re visiting Disneyland in late March 2026 or beyond, there’s an exciting new experience especially for families with younger kids — Bluey is coming to the parks!

Starting March 22, 2026, Disneyland Resort will debut “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” at the Fantasyland Theatre.

This limited-time experience is expected to include:

• Interactive entertainment
• Character appearances with Bluey and friends
• A family-friendly show atmosphere perfect for younger children
• Photo opportunities

This is a big deal for families because Bluey is incredibly popular right now, and character experiences like this often draw large crowds, especially when they first open.

One of the biggest highlights of visiting Disneyland in March is the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival.

In 2026, the festival runs March 6 through April 27, and it’s one of my favorite seasonal events at the Disneyland Resort.

This celebration focuses on California-inspired flavors with dozens of food booths, entertainment, and special experiences throughout Disney California Adventure Park.

What You Can Expect

During the festival, you’ll find food marketplaces set up throughout the park offering small-plate tasting portions. It’s a great way to try multiple dishes without committing to full meals.

You’ll also see:

• Festival-exclusive merchandise
• Unique cocktails, wine, and craft beer

Even if you don’t drink alcohol, there are plenty of non-alcoholic drinks and food options to enjoy.

Crowd levels do increase throughout the month, especially during school spring breaks, which can lead to longer wait times for popular rides like Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, and Radiator Springs Racers. That’s completely normal for this time of year — and with the right strategy, you can still accomplish a lot.

Below you’ll find the current ride closures scheduled for March. Disney usually releases refurbishment information about 6 weeks in advance, so schedules can change as new dates are announced.

Having a plan makes the biggest difference during busy seasons.

From live music to dazzling stage productions, there’s never a dull moment at Pixar Fest.

Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular

Celebrating the heart of Pixar storytelling, this nighttime spectacular will take you on an emotional journey of friendship as Pixar pals meet for the first time, set out on adventures, overcome adversity, and ultimately forge everlasting bonds—together. Favorite moments from Toy Story, Inside Out, Coco, The Incredibles, and more are now joined by new scenes featuring characters and music from Turning Red, Luca, Soul, Onward, and Elemental. Enjoy the show from Disneyland Park locations near “It’s a Small World” in the Central Plaza and along Main Street, U.S.A.

Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!

This new daytime parade from Disney Live Entertainment features dynamic, colorful floats and more than two dozen favorite characters from Pixar Animation Studios films.

Red Panda Mei and her friends from Turning Red come together and rock out to their favorite boy band, 4*Town. From Soul, Joe Gardner and 22 bring their worlds together to celebrate the sweet things in life while best buddies Luca, Alberto, and Giulia from Luca enjoy their time together at the water’s edge in Portorosso.

Also, watch for floats celebrating the stories of Up and Inside Out, along with a grand finale featuring The Incredibles, Miguel from Coco, Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc., and Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.

This parade happens 2 times a day in California Adventure Park!

Club Pixar

During Pixar Fest, The Hollywood Backlot offers photo opportunities and nearby face painting each day.

During the evening, Club Pixar comes alive with an interactive DJ dance party, live performances, Pixar-themed versions of games like cornhole and tic tac toe, photo opportunities, themed food, specially crafted beverages, and even a fun “drive-in” theatre showcasing some of your favorite Pixar Shorts.

Pixar Pals Playtime Party

Join the party as Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland Park is transformed into a fun zone for the entire family! Get into the groove with some favorite Pixar pals in a high-energy show. Stop by a reading and coloring area with a Luca-themed wall to unleash your creativity. Step into the worlds of Monsters Inc., Cars, Onward, Up, and A Bug’s Life at backdrops offering picture-worthy moments to share on social media. Jump into interactive games and out-of-this-world activities based on Pixar films and watch a selection of Pixar shorts on a big screen.

The fun is endless at the Pixar Pals Playtime Party, where everyone can dance and play the Pixar way!

Let’s talk about character meet-and-greets. One of the highlights of Pixar Fest is getting the chance to meet some of your favorite characters up close and personal. There’s always delicious food at the Disney theme parks, but they’ve upped their foodie game for Pixar Fest!  Enjoy Pixar-themed food at a bunch of different locations throughout the Disneyland resort! I loved the Pixar cake from Plaza Inn. The Gusteau Macaron was absolutely incredible! The Kol Nut Whoopie Cookie Pie was also delicious if you’re looking for a couple of recommendations.  Find the complete foodie guide here. 

There’s also a parade dining package that you can check out. Treat yourself to Pixar-inspired food and treats at Sonoma Terrace, and then enjoy a prime viewing of the parade!

Pixar Fest Pizza Planet Truck Hunt

As part of the Pixar Fest celebration, 50 Pizza Planet trucks have been hidden throughout Disneyland and California Adventure Park! Each car has been themed to fit the area that it’s hidden in, and they are so much fun to find!  Some are pretty visible, and you’ll have to hunt for others.  Here’s a printable list of each truck with a little hint if you’d like to try and find them all!
